EFFECTIVENESS AND EFFICIENCY 1. How about if you pay someone to change the tire? Are you being efficient and effective? * I believe, doing the right things is being effective and doing the things in the right manner is being efficient. This implies doing right things in the right manner is being effective as well as efficient. Therefore, if you are paying someone who changes the tire quickly and even in the right manner, you are being effective. But to be efficient, it depends how much money you are paying. If you are paying too much than an average charge, you are not being efficient. But if you pay an average amount or even less to the guy who did your job quickly and correctly, you are being both effective and efficient. 2. “An efficient person/process needs not to be effective every time, but to be effective you should be efficient in execution of process”! What do you think? * I do not agree with the statement above completely. I agree, “An efficient person/process needs not to be effective every time”. This statement is describing Bhagirath, from the practical example, who cleaned the tire neatly which was not the major process on changing the flat tire. But I do not agree that you should be efficient to be effective. Even being inefficient you can be effective just like Ramesh, from the example, who wasted a lot of time but finally managed to change the tire.
