Education Can Diminish Poverty "In 2005, an estimated 3 billion people—about half the world’s population—were living on less than US$2 a day" (Altin).Though poverty is a widespread phenomenon that people are aware of, a lot have disregarded it. People have been dying and still are all over the world because of poverty. These people lack the basic needs of living which are food, water, education, health care. Though many efforts are being exerted to fight this global issue, it still has a long way to go. Education is one of the most pivotal long term solutions to poverty. One of the basic needs that poor people are deficient in is education. Through education, poor people can learn about economics and finance. Good education about economics and finance will put poor countries in proper starting position of the developing process. It will also help the poor societies tackle poverty in a much more advanced way. An educated work force is one of the most important bases of a good economy. This is because an educated worker contributes to improved productivity, hence leads to a better economic performance. Moreover, understanding adjustable rate loans, knowing when to stop spending and knowing how to manage money are also other pieces of evidence that prove the importance of education Education is also important when it comes to health. Students are taught about healthy diets, the importance of regular sleep. Moreover, if children are educated about certain diseases present in their region, they are much less likely to get them. They will be able to take the suitable precautions not only to avoid getting it, but also start ending the spread of this certain disease. Better health means better productivity.
