Looking at the future and past it’s hard to say what people will take from all of it. No matter how hard I can try to please as many I can in my time here or there, not everyone will approve of what I do, say, or think. This realization is step of maturity as I walk through life. However, I don’t want it to be about me. I don’t want people to look back and say “oh yeah, I know who Sarah Firestone is.” No, I want my actions to speak louder than just who I am or my name.

The first scene in this story that had an emotional impact on me was when Jacobs (Linda) was talking about her grandmother and how she saved her earnings in hope of one day buying her children. She was well on her way to achieving this goal until her master died and the children were sold. As a mother myself, I could not imagine having my daughter taken from me and sold to the highest bidder. Not being able to see her every day and know how she was doing would definitely take an emotional toll on me. Another thing in her writing that was emotional for me was that Linda always wanted a better life for her children.

In addition to the confusion surrounding the note Lady Chiltern originally sent to Lord Goring, that Mrs. Cheveley then forwarded in malice to Sir Robert, and that finally unites Sir Robert and Gertrude, there are a variety of stolen conversations and entrances and exits that allow every aspect of the character's lives to find resolution. Clearly, the letter is a very important tool. It represents Lady Chiltern's love for her husband. Originally, she wrote that she needed and wanted Lord Goring, but only so she could speak with him about her troubled marriage, to which she held so dear. Re-sent to Sir Robert, the letter takes on new meaning, and with Lady Chiltern's revelation that she has in fact held her husband on too high of a pedestal, the statements inscribed in it apply directly to him.
She tells him she will do it because she doesn’t care about herself. Through this line we see that she wants the child, but has a fear of losing the man. The girl realizes that if she chooses to keep the child he will probably leave her. During this time period being a single mother was unacceptable and looked down upon. The girl would have to face the harsh reality of society if she chooses to keep the child.
