The Catholics may have been angry with the church but their church got reform and that’s what they wanted. The Catholic Church had no choice but to sale indulgence that was the pope’s orders and back in that time the Catholics followed the pope. The Catholic Church spent their money on unnecessary things. The church didn’t think wisely, but all of that changed because Martin Luther reformed the church and John Calvin helped. The pope lead the church and decided a person gets into heaven, but William Tyndale believes that if you believe in Jesus Christ as your Savoir then you’ll get into heaven, and I believe the same things as Tyndale, you shouldn’t have to prove yourself to the pope that you deserve to go to heaven and the pope shouldn’t get to decide.
Constantans conversion helped Christianity in many ways. The Christian leaders where given many gifts and his followers where safe from persecution. He was who made Sunday an official roman holiday this made it so more could go to church. He also believed that the church and state should be closed. He built the church Nativity in Bethlehem and Mount Mariah in Jerusalem.
But he took her by her hand and said, “My child, get up!” (Luke 8:53-54) This miracle is another example of the Kingdom of God’s faith and hope. Jesus told Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.” (Luke 8:50) “When it seems too late for anyone to help us, we can always go to Christ and ask. He may not always give us what we ask for but he always gives us what is best.” (Making Christ Known,
His aunt and the congregation want him to go up and get saved, be obedient and step up to the pulpit. What is the meaning of being “saved” in a young Langston mind? He state’s “So I decided that maybe to save further trouble, I’d better lie, too, and say that Jesus Had come, and get up and be saved”. (198) Can we say that young Langston, at this moment, over looks his own beliefs, so he can meet the expectations of the congregation. Langston loses his faith because of how Auntie Reed tells him that “when you were saved you saw a light, and something happened to you inside” (197).
After much study I have decided to base my talk off of Elder Jeffery R. Holland’s talk titles “The Cost-and Blessings- of Discipleship” given in the April 2014 General Conference. Elder Holland begins his talk by giving President Monson our love. President Monson gives of his life freely for this church every day and is a prime example of what it means to be a disciple of Christ. Every day the world views and the laws of God drift apart. We need to search our hearts and pray that we may find ourselves on the Lords side.
When it comes to the reading of the scripture this was the part of the visit that I enjoyed the most. He started off by saying that he knows that it is early but this is going to be his first of many Christmas sermons. He opened up by asking why do you think that God decide to tell the shepherds first that Jesus was going to be born. He went on to talk about how being a shepherded used be a noble and kingly thing, but in the times of Jesus birth they were more known as the outcasts, if anything went wrong the towns people would always blame them. Then he went on to talk about how to young boys that go to this church had been caught stealing some electronics from the church and how the ministers had been working with these boys to try to teach them the word of the lord.
It is the same with Easter. Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Christ, but they do not complain when they hunting Easter eggs. The Easter egg is was created to symbolize the empty tomb of Christ and to symbolize although an egg looks dead form the outside there is new life. That Christ will rise from the grave and bring new
Planet Wise: A Book Review In the book “Planet Wise,” written by Dave Bookless, we see a very compelling argument in favour of creation care being more than a simple care for the environment around us; for Bookless, creation care is written into the DNA of every Christian in the world. Not only is caring for creation a reflection of God’s will for the world, but it is something all Christians should do as an act of worship. All Christians are called to meet together, read the bible, pray and share the Good News; which is a joy held by all believers, but creation care is also essential to following Jesus. Bookless lays out his work in the same manner as the biblical story, moving from creation to Jesus and everything in-between. This creative format is followed in this review.
He was killed for standing up for what he believed in, which was helping the poor and Jesus Christ. The speech really moved me and I would suggest for others to read this as well. It taught me how powerful God and the church is, and by believing in Him, you will be lead in the right direction. Work Cited Mills, Frederick B.. Being a Christian involves devout prayer and good deeds for others. In points fifty-two through fifty-five Luther expressed the importance of spending time preaching the word, instead of spending time talking about pardons. Points fifty-six through sixty-eight state that it is natural to want riches and the men of the Church had many treasures, but Luther advised the greatest treasure could be found in the Holy Word and in the Grace of God. Again, in points sixty-nine through eight-one Luther warns the people of trusting in the letters of pardon and confusing them with true forgiveness and salvation. Only repentance
