The plot forces the audience to question whether humans can control the technology they create and if our desire to continually make advancements in technology might be to humanity’s detriment. The novel, ‘Black Hole’, written by Geraldine Stowe, is set on a star colony called ‘Estra’ in the year 2305 where technology has become so advanced that nearly anything is possible. The social comment reminds the audience that even though we live in world full of advanced technology, our negative traits remain the same. This is presented through Dante and what he is forced to go through abuse just because he is different from his society Examples of futuristic and advanced technology are interspersed throughout, ‘I, Robot’, placing the film easily in the science fiction genre. Detective Del Spooner is employed to investigate the apparent suicide of Dr Alfred Lanning who “practically invented robotics.” During Spooner’s quest to uncover the truth, he stumbles upon Lanning’s “unique” creation, Sonny.
One of the most traditional hypothesis is the one John Gray wrote about in his book Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, which essentially points to differences in brain structure, hormones, and socialization as the cause of such an enormous gender gap in communication. But that was then and this is now, scientists throughout the world are working to learn more about gender differences in communication, and much has been discovered since the days of Mars & Venus. A few articles that I have came across all agree with the same statement that both women and men do communicate differently. An article I cam across “what language barrier?” by Deborah Cameron clearly explains how both men and women communicate with each other. It is obvious that men understand their own language just as women do, however how do we get both gender to communicate with each other with any confusion.
The Procter and Gamble logo was rumored to be the mark of the devil. The logo actually meant “The man on the moon and the 13 stars representing the original colonies” (356). Salmans quotes one customer, Faye Dease, who says “when a mirror is held up to the logo, the curlicues in the man’s beard become 666-the sign of the Antichrist” (Salmans 357). Mrs. Dease also proceeded to argue “If it causes controversy, I don’t see why they have it” (Salmans 357). Salmans cites a woman, Cathy Gebing an employee of Procter and Gambles consumer service department, who said, answering phone calls all day, “No, sir, that’s a false rumor…that’s our trademark, we’ve had it about 100 years” (356).

DATE \@ "MMMM d, y" April 20, 2015 Dear Editor, Im writing to express my belief in why the short story “Bloodchild” by Octavia Butler should be published. Butler creates a dystopian society in which humans form together to build a little agency. “Dystopian is the complete opposite of utopian because it describes an imaginary society that is as dehumanizing and unpleasant (vocabulary.com)”. The humans ( who are referred to as Terran) are detached from earth and placed in this far away world that they have to share with Tlic ( referred to as the aliens) . The science fiction elements play a big role throughout the story because the fact that it is located in a far away world it gives this mystery that keeps you on your toes .

Different Communication Methods Terri Sam South University March 24, 2014 Different Communication Methods Ever hear the phrase “Men are from mars and women are from Venus?” How would you construe that phrase? There can be different meanings that we can all think of. Communication between men and women “Sex, Lies and Conversation” is an essay written by Deborah Tannen. In her essay she talks about why men and women communicate differently and how this causes them to listen differently to each other. This topic is controversial because men and women are different species of this world.
In the beginning of the story Waverly did not understand anything about chess. She read the rules and looked up all the big words in a dictionary. and later she came close to becoming a chess master by the way of invisible strength. In the story “rules of the game” mother and daughter both have invisible strength. Though in the end of the story, ms. Jong beats Waverly with invisible strength.
Carr argues, in reference to Stanley Kubrick's: 2001: A Space Odyssey, "as we come to rely on computers to mediate our understanding of the world, it is our own intelligence that flattens into artificial intelligence." (Carr, 2008, p.1). Carr believes that the constant need the human race has shown for such technology, will end up stripping humans of their humanity. The article fights to explain how the days of old are being tainted by these new technological advancements and how in the end, humanity will become "artificial". The article starts by explaining the effects that technology has had on both Carr and his close friends.
It is said that women are from Venus, and men from Mars. Are men and women that psychologically different? Introduction Gender differences studies have been ongoing since the 1900’s with researchers investigating social, individual and cognitive characteristics. Widespread oral arguments and literature have claimed that the psychological difference between men and women is very wide. John Gray’s (2004) book Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus only served to advance this idea, which is better known as the “Differences Hypothesis”.
