August 7, 2011 PHI 105 Professor Kristan Farley Drug Abuse among Teens Teenage drug use affects teens physically; emotionally and spiritually therefore, punishment for use should be stricter. There should be more consequences and the community should be more involved with the matter. While dark forces contributed to the abuse of drugs among teenagers, all those who journey fear for their lives knowing soon or later they must battle with some fierce despair. Daunting is one of the main influences facing teens today. As a community we must provide teens with the tools to avoid all of these risk factors. In order to do so we must empower them, not with just the common campaign of Just Say No! We have to discover more tactics for a more positive reinforcement. Our goals must be catered all in one question such as; (Why are teens abusive with drugs?) There are many different factors that may contribute to teen drug abuse such as, insecurity, and self-doubt to a desire for social acceptance. Most teens often feel indestructible and may not consider the consequences of their actions leading them to take incredible dangerous risks of using legal and illegal drugs. Illegal drugs attack the lives and dignity of millions of human beings especially young people. All of society pays the price! Even someone who has no direct involvement with drug abuse pays in terms of higher taxes and less access to government resources that are being drained to fighting drug related crime, paying welfare to those who are unemployed due to drug dependency, and health care for drug addicts and the children born to them. The whole social and economic development of a country is impeded. The problem is so massive that nothing less than cooperation and coordination to control all aspects of the problem at the international, national, and regional
