Diane Jaynes HSER508 Module 5 Liberty University On-line April 21, 2013 Practical Book Review Why Don’t We Listen Better? James C. Petersen D.Min., L.P.C. Summary James Petersen breaks his book down into five different parts that explains and helps individuals or groups in learning how to communicate better with each other and anyone that they may come into contact with. James Petersen places a very big focus on learning to really listen to people when they are talking. He also explains how each individual have had and dealt with individuals that are suffering from his theory of “The Flat Brain Theory” which he discusses how feelings are linked with the stomach, the heart and of course the head and how these three work collectively to alter an individual’s actions.
Another skill is Honesty. Being honest no matter the situation helps in building one’s character. Telling the truth helps to build a person’s character and image with respect to family, friends and workmates. Telling a lie compromises one’s integrity because lies have a negative impact on the character. When one tells a lie no matter how insignificant it is, they lose their integrity because it becomes harder for people to trust them.
We lie to people we think would misuse the truth in unfair or dangerous ways. Keeping the truth secret or deceiving people is only effective when those people believe we are providing them with the truth. Lies only work if we lie infrequently enough, to be believed and relied on when we do lie. Honesty is about keeping promises to tell the truth. Accepting our promise to tell the truth puts someone is a relationship with us.
FOLLY DJAGOE ENGLISH 101 FEBRUARY 10 RESPONSE#1 In the essay “Body Language : Never Be Lied to Again” by David J. Lieberman , the author tell us that we can tell when people are lying simply by observing their body language. He states, “Our Fingers, hands , arms ,and legs and their movements offer a fascinating insight into our true feelings”. I do agree with David J .Lieberman’s article because it is easily to understand. David J. Lieberman’s article is broken down into six sections. Each section refers to a different body part and its controversial movements when dishonesty is suspected.
If you are discussing a challenge you faced, focus on how you dealt with it and what that says about your character and how you grew as a person. You want your essay to tell a story that reveals who you are and why you are special. Be sure to talk about how you fit into a community. How did the event affect your relationship with others? Be original—remember—admissions counselors read thousands of essays.
Any sane parent would probably lie to save their children from severe danger, and there is nothing wrong with that. Also, lies can be merciful in situations where you don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings or don’t want to make them feel bad about themselves. Let’s say a friend is starting to become unhealthy and gained a large body mass. You would like to voice your opinion on their lifestyle in hopes of encouraging them to start being
Most things that is or is could said in the future can usually be questioned. Once a lie is said it is hard for a person to believe that the next thing they hear from that person is the truth. Dishonesty also causes doubt in a relationship. It can make a person feel a little insecure with them self. Once the seed of doubt is planted and a person is insecure it can lead to an emotional withdraw from one partner to the other.

With the fast pace of our current society and cutbacks from all sources, it is always a thing of by the time our wages come in, it goes out and leaves us very limited time to meet people. For a society to work effectively, it has to be used by everyone. It should run like a well-oiled machine, however, going back to the previous statement, everyone looks out for themselves. When you break it all down, it basically
Definition- The continuous flow of thoughts in a conscious human mind, as well as a technique used in literature to convey how a character feels or what the character is thinking while it is happening. The character's emotions are portrayed either through hints within dialogue or actions taken by the character in certain situations. Labeled as a special form of writing, "Stream of Consciousness" is a self told monologue. The speaker/character is telling himself how he feels. Often compared to third person speech or the act of addressing an audience, "Stream of Consciousness" are the person's inner thoughts being overheard or seen and we are all but eavesdropping while this is taking place.
