Isaul M. Montez Samantha Burke Business Law I MG260 30 November 2014 Blanket Protection Who is Liable For Firearms Negligence? The onslaught of horrific incidents of gun violence over the last year has created within the general public a fiercely debated topic of liability. Should victims of these crimes have recourse against anyone other than the perpetrator of the criminal act? The issue of whether the civil justice system should respond to these incidents is not a new topic. Over a decade ago courtrooms were saturated with litigation seeking to hold firearms manufacturers and distributors liable for damages resulting from the illegal use of their product.
Ethnic conflict is still very much in the news today. Why do conflicts occur among countries? Like our text tells us on page 14 from the conflict perspective, “In the conflict view, groups exert what power they possess over others when it serves their interests, and society consists of a wide array of interest groups struggling to acquire a share of societal resources.” (Sullivan. 2007, pg. 14).
Boeckmann (2002) writes, “ The collective focus on hate crime and hate speech articulated in these articles incorporates nuances that go beyond the FBI’s definition” (p. 208). The definition does not account for elements like prejudice against a victim based upon an assessment of contrast or oddness important to the culprit. The disparity is motivated by a number of prestigious characteristics viewed extremely unwelcoming by the culprit; hence, the result is the violent act. Sadly, hate crimes stems from the beauty of differences in ethnicities, races, beliefs, cultures, and class
April 10, 2012 The Work of Death In This Republic of Suffering, Faust views the Civil War as an instrumental role on death that dealt savagely with both sides of surviving and dying, permanently altering the American psyche. She traces the attitudes of nineteenth-century Americans toward dying and death, funerary rites, grief and mourning, Faust examines how social beliefs reacted when subjected to the enormous destruction that the American Civil War brought. There were an estimated 620,000-plus fatalities resulting from the war. This war transformed how Americans understood death as well as the obligations the living bore the dead. It seems Faust records an increase in government involvement considering the aftermath of the war.
However, this is not the case because evidence of racism in the imposition of the death penalty is clearly recognizable. Within this paper, racial disparities in the application of the death penalty will not only be addressed but also it will address the prosecutor’s role, influential factors, statistics, and the efforts that need to be implemented to reduce racial disparities in the death penalty. Racial Disparity The issues surrounding the death penalty is arguably one of the most controversial social issues in the world. One of the more significant controversies regarding the death penalty is whether its application is mired in patterns of racial bias. This biased attitude toward minorities has and continues to lead to racial disparities in imposing the death penalty.
Police and the Use of Force Abstract The use of excessive force as a crime control mechanism has been widely criticized and debated for many years. Many ask, what exactly is excessive force? What causes an officer to use excessive force and is it justified? There is much ambiguity when it comes to answering such questions. How large of a role does the media play in portraying police use of excessive force as fair or unnecessary?

The most methodologically sophisticated individual-level studies offer evidence supporting the link between race and police brutality suggested by both perspectives (Smith, 1986; Worden, 1996). It remains unclear whether inclusion of community accountability variables in the statistical models would attenuate that relationship. Even so, individual-level research on community accountability variables provides little evidence supporting the assumptions of the proposed policies. Beyond indicating a link between race and police brutality, research with individual-level data cannot test the predictions of the threat hypothesis, which requires aggregate-level
Due to the incredibly complex nature of the human mind, it may be impossible to point to any single causal event that triggers the action of human cruelty. Studying the lives of individuals convicted of heinous acts is part of our continuing search for the answer we seek when we hear of such an act: Why? Studies about cruel acts and cruel people have resulted in theories as numerous as there are people that inquire. From these studies,
