Does a Person's Background Affect the Way He or She Sees Things?

There are many factors that influence people to see things differently because of their background. In some cases might even affect their behavior and perspective, towards their religion, social statues and living arrangements. People in the Middle East tend to be more traditional than people in the United States. But among these factors, people tend to lean towards the things that they admire as kids to be a strong influence in their lives. For example in the article “Driven by Desire” the author talks about how a couple came upon purchasing a new car because they felt embarrassed of their old rusty car. That’s the society we live in today, where people are judged based on their backgrounds, and the way they are living. This article was a perfect example of it because it teaches us the values of life. The Bremer’s both came from poor families and didn’t have much living up. They value life even more comparing to people who grew up with everything. As kids they learned to admire those values and even in their adult lives they following them. I believe that everything we learn or go through as kids has a huge affect on how we view things differently growing up. I, for one, was strongly influenced by my background and culture, as it was totally different comparing to Western culture. Going back to the Bermer’s her husband who grew up in Libya kept the same culture as he had growing up and didn’t care what people would say about him because of his background. When I think about people whom I think are beautiful, they tend to be mostly white people. Though I very much appreciate my ethnic background, I remember in the early teen years of my life, I hated the fact that my nose was too short and that my eyes were so thin.
