As technology continues to make advancements, our desire to own them increases. In this time period, teenagers are all about “texting” their friends and scrolling through social media. And this communication is consistent; as if they can’t put their cell phone down to do anything. Texting is one of the many distracting factors that lead to car accidents. Many steps have been taken to try to convince teenagers, as well as adults, to stop texting while behind the wheel. One way is through Public Service Announcements (PSA’s), which can create an emotional environment for the audiences. It gets to the audience through their emotions, which can help reduce the number of distracted driving incidents. But, some might say PSA’s are useless, because for those who have the “it won’t happen to me” mind set, it might not be very convincing. Furthermore, in my opinion, a Public Service Announcement can have a great amount of influence on an audience. As an example, the Alex Brown Distracted Driving video was told from the family’s point of view, which immediately hits the audience because it shows how much pain the accident brought to them. Also, there was music in the background, which was added for more emphasis on the sadness. When it comes to losing a loved one or getting injured in a car accident, many of us can relate to the feeling it brings. And hopefully, once seeing how cruel and real life can be, people can acknowledge the idea that the PSA brings and will convince them to be more careful while driving. Thus, leading to less accidents. On the other hand, there are many cases where teenagers or adults are driving using cell phones, or any other distractions, and this does not result in an accident for them. And some people may argue that the PSA is fake, and that it may mean nothing to them because they don’t know the people it happened to. I know there are many
