A reader unfamiliar with distance learning might not realize all of the advantages that this approach to education produces. Distance learning provides a student with the flexibility of completing the work at a chosen time and place, allowing students the opportunity to work or spend their time as they choose. Students that live remote distances from campuses, have an opportunity to take classes, that otherwise would be impossible. Online learning provides fewer distractions than in a typical classroom setting. Distance learning is less expensive than traditional classes, due to the savings from area such as; commuting expenses, cost of eating out, clothing cost, loss of work, and babysitting
The dependent learner, who needs interaction with people, would want to consider taking the traditional route. B. If you live in a rural or lower socio-economic environment, that has inadequate access, you would be better attending school in a traditional environment. C. A video conversation cannot replace the experience of face to face interaction, so students such as traditional setting students, who thrive on the quick exchange of ideas between professor and students may find that they prefer the class room environment more. II.
They are identified in a person but aren’t really the person’s number one choice. The preferred strategies are the strategies that help the person learn and cope to their needs. Identified strategies are there and also help but the person would prefer the other strategies over them. As discussed earlier, kinesthetic strategies embody actively engaging into the lesson. On the contrary, aural study strategies engage “attending classes, discussions, and tutorials, discussing topics with others and teachers, and using a tape recorder.” People who are good listeners and learn better by hearing have aural strategies.
Evaluate the effectiveness of business information and its communication as key contributors to the success of an organisation, using examples Llantarnam School Verbal Verbal is one of the key factor of business information as it can make communication a lot easier and quicker to understand and there will also be a less chance of misunderstanding a set of instruction than other type of communications. Some of the communication used in schools are interview, telephone conversations. Llantarnam School uses verbal communication in many occasions like assembly where teachers speaks to the students delivering important messages by face to face conversations. I personally think this is the best way to communicate but there are many problems of this communication like language barrier where I myself sometime find it difficult to understand what teachers are saying as English is not my primary language, the person who you want to talk to might not be present. Written communication This communication is also used very often in Llantarnam School.
Reshae Head SPE529 Reflective Journal Self-Contained and Inclusive Classrooms Self-contained classrooms in my opinion are great for students who have similar abilities and are trying to achieve a common goal. Self-contained classrooms allow teachers to focus on a minority group of kids that may need help that the majority of the kids may not need. This allows for certain students not to be held back, while others may need to slow down and receive special instructions or accommodations. I also like the fact that in a self contained setting, students are around kids with similar struggles so they tend to feel more comfortable and be more engaging during lessons. The only negative I see in the self-contained setting is the fact that the kids are sometimes cut off from the general education students.
Students taking online classes are free to express their opinion on message thread which allows other students to comment also and keep conversation going. Through distance learning students who are shy and not open to conversation can easily express and help them become more comfortable. “Generally speaking face to face communication with an instructor is minimized or eliminated altogether” (Barszcz 151). Distance learning can go both ways, if a student prefers to attend campus and have face to face contact it’s totally up to them, but for those students who are independent and are working full-time distance learning is the only option for them to advance in their career. For students who are living on their own with expense such as rent and bills, distance learning make their lives easy and can be managed with full-time job.
However, these strategies draw more attention to the students’ disability, and these accommodations can be expensive to implement. Hearing impaired students also cannot hear the teachers or their peers in the classroom, which impedes on their ability to participate in the class. Educators are beginning to explore online settings as an effective strategy for teaching hearing impaired students. Online education is a useful tool for the education of hearing impaired students, but it should not be the sole solution. It is most effective when blended into a traditional classroom setting.
With advancements in technology, some students have chosen to complete their schoolwork through the Internet, rather than in traditional classrooms. Those who support a traditional classroom approach to learning argue that it provides more of an opportunity for students to interact with the teacher and other students. Those who feel that learning over the Internet is better argue that it allows students to learn anytime and anywhere they choose. Do you feel education is better provided in traditional classrooms or when offered over the Internet? Write an essay to be read by a classroom teacher in which you persuade the reader that either traditional classroom education or Internet-based learning is better. With advancements in technology, some students have chosen to complete their schoolwork through the Internet, rather than in traditional classrooms.
Charter Schools: A Better Choice for Parents The recent growth of Charter schools in America is a welcome change for many parents who want choice in education. Students and families are recognizing the real benefits Charter schools have to offer. Parents want schools that are safe, cultivate a positive attitude about learning, and best fit their children’s abilities and interests (Richwine & Heritage 2010). Charter schools are a better option than public schools because charter schools offer smaller classes, the faculty has the ability to use experimentation with different teaching methods and parents are able to be more involved in the school as a whole. Smaller class sizes are not only beneficial to students but to teachers as well.
It probably took them twice as long just to get things done. One of the biggest improvements in technology that helps the classroom would be the internet. Many times there is just not enough information from books and magazines, and students now can access all different kinds of information using the internet. Students can also create websites which will assist them and make the job of the teacher easier. This is fun for the students to do, and they can post short stories, poems, class homework, and many personally created activities.
