and go back to home and to have children, this would make them much happier. Some of the campaign encouraging women to return there jobs went to far for example “Leave it to Beaver” and “Father Knows Best”. Women’s rights changed but not as much as they wanted them to, as they wanted the same opportunities as the men were receiving. Women were increasingly unhappy with the burdens and the contradictions they faced. The were bombarded with the cultural message that said that good mothers and wives didn’t work and dedicated their lives to supporting their husbands and children, but at the same time they were increasingly forced to work to make ends
With a mother who chooses to spend much of her time outside the confines of a family home for whatever reason you can expect to see many changes. Another reason mothers have become less dependent on their husbands is because the divorce rate has more than doubled in the last 60 years. It is still agreed that a happy marriage is something to strive for and it is all around better for the family, though the divorce rate is almost at its peek. The woman’s job in the 50’s was to make the family happy and to steer it away from divorce at all possible, and since the woman’s role has changed so has the rate of divorce. Adultery, abuse, and unhappiness are not any less common now than it was 60 years ago, but it is now less tolerated.
Was the motor car ownership the most important reason for improvements in the way of life for many Americans in the 1920s? (16) Ownership of a motor car in the 1920s was a factor in the improvements of the way of life for some Americans. There are other factors like new consumer goods, entertainment and prosperity. During the 1920s Americans where buying lots of new consumer goods these goods where was changing there lives. This is because they had access to radios and fridges really cheaply.
However, many workers find that does not happen. Yes, I will admit that they offer better wages than many people in agricultural areas will make, along with that are additional loans to what has often been described as the company store. The Robber Barons often worked with government to make sure that those who
She was someone who a lot of women admired and tried to be like. I believe that the social influences of the visual entertainment media are mostly positive because it is not always a bad thing to want to better yourself to be like someone in movies or television. Honestly, I think some people can learn a lot from visual media because if they just moved to America or where ever, they can watch movies and television to get an idea of how things are. That is just one example, there are just so many more. In conclusion, visual media does influence social behavior and attitudes because a lot of people like to follow what the celebrities are doing or what they see in video games.
Automobiles were interconnected in business as they provided economy benefits through the mass production, more tax opportunities, and billboards provided auto-drivers with advertisements to local businesses. Businesses such as motels increased in popularity in response to auto-drivers and leisure vacations. A few other developments in technology were the radio and telephone, people could make calls to neighbors or friends from their own house and many people enjoyed listening to the radio to stay updated on current events, listen to sports, or get a laugh from comedy stations. Indoor plumbing, running water, and household appliances are a few other developments that had a big influence on society during this era since they improved people’s lifestyles. The common cause of technology is that it’s always influencing change in society and trying to better benefit people’s everyday lives.
This era was looked at more as a lifestyle rather than just another decade or time period in American history. This was the point that America finally had some peace and was ready to start enjoying it. With America at a better financial standpoint and the war veterans back at home, it was time to make families, enjoy them, and start to build a better society with a whole new culture to introduce where people didn’t need to worry so much about money and could enjoy their lives. With the return of the veterans love was in the air which gave way to the beginning of a new era: the baby boomers. This gave birth to new consumers, new demands and a segue into a different change of pace for families all around.
Believing sexism will go away without putting major changes in place, is not a reality. Sexism blatantly exists in the work place. Obvious (and most common) examples of this would be: women are often paid less than their male counterparts for the same position, men often receive rapid job promotions in comparison to women and women are usually the targets of gender based harassment. Women frequently struggle with the lack of pay they receive, in comparison to their male counterparts. A woman working in the same job as a man will usually earn less, despite the fact that she may have the same or better training, education, and skills required for the job ("Study Shows Female Managers in Britain Earn Less than Men, and Equality Could Be 57 Years Away."
That is just one example, there are plenty more. In conclusion, visual media does influence social behavior and attitudes because a lot of people like to follow what the celebrities are doing or what they see in video games. It's not always positive with the video games, but I think it is mostly positive. Many people see things in the television shows and in movies that
High income careers, management careers, political careers and engineering carriers are considered just for men. Home chores are clearly for women. It’s not expected from a man to do jobs like cooking, cleaning the house , care child in home or babysitting jobs although this pattern have been changed a little in recent years due to social and economic changes. Although based on traditional gender roles some fields like nursing are highly feminine this pattern not only change but also this change effects on other fields like gender roles in work area. The number of highly educated women in management, engineering, journalism and social science increased in recent years and this change are changing all former social structure related to gender roles.
