Describe and evaluate research into cross cultural variations in attachment In 1988, Van Ljzendoorn and Kroonenberg used an analysis of the Strange Situation to research cross-cultural patterns of attachment. They used the same procedure as Ainsworth of assessing attachment as it shows how not all infants are securely attached. They therefore found the same three types of attachment: Secure attachment, insecure resistant and insecure avoidant. One of the most significant findings was that there was a 1.5 x more varaiations with cultures then between cultures. Also they found that secure attachment was the normal attachment throughout each country.
UNIT 302. Schools as organisations. Outcome 1:- Know the structure of education for early years to post-compulsory education. 1.1:- Summarise entitlement and provision for early years education. As part of Every Child Matters and the Childcare Act 2006 every child in the UK aged three and four years old have been entitles to 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year, free early years education.
Some 2-year-olds are also eligible. The government funds local authorities to make sure all children get up to two years of free education before they reach school age. Any additional hours a child receives would have to be paid for by their parents or guardians. The free early education and childcare can be at: • nursery schools • nurseries on school sites • nursery classes in schools and academies • children’s centres • day nurseries • some playgroups and pre-school • child-minders • Sure Start Children’s Centres Some 2-year-olds in England can also get free early education and childcare. To qualify for this, the child’s parents must be receiving one of a number of state benefits, including Income Support and Job Seekers Allowance.
Level I nurseries are now uncommon in the United States. Healthy babies typically share a room with their mother, and both patients are usually discharged from the hospital quickly. [4] Level II provides intermediate or special care for premature or ill newborns. At this level, infants may need special therapy provided by nursing staff, or may simply need more time before being discharged. Level III, the Neonatal intensive-care unit (NICU), treats newborns who cannot be treated in the other levels and are in need of high technology to survive.
Lack of communication is another problem that exists in the family. The therapist will ask the family to share their feelings openly. The intervention will also focus on identifying the needs and wants of the family as well as strengthening the relationship among all family members, particularly the relationship between Conrad and his mother. According to Beardslee and Knitzer (2004), interventions on increasing the parents’ knowledge about their child’s problems and promoting positive relationships among family members have proven to be successful. Cognitive behavioral therapy will also be used to increase effective strategies for behavioral management (Wilmhurst, 2004).
These types of provider are usually run by voluntary groups Childminders – normally providing care within the childminders own home from ages 0 – 8 years old. There are limits on the amount of children that childminders can care for at any one time. The limit is up to six children under eight years old, and no more than three of them can be aged under five. Sure Start Children's Centres – providing many free services to parents, guardians, carers and children for 0 – 5. Husbands were now unemployed and many of the RN-wives who had previously stayed home as housewives and mothers returned to the nursing field. Through the 1980's, it was harder for new Diploma grads to find work, caught between the older nurses and the BSNs. But many of the older nurses were unprepared for all the changes nursing had undergone while they had been at home. Many older nurses stopped working again, although many stayed. At the same time, with the push toward BSN, about 1983-1985 was when many traditional hospital based schools partnered with a nearby college or university to create the first fast-track from Diploma to BSN.
After they were found by social services Louise aged 3 and a half, Mary aged 2 and a half they were out into care in a children’s hospital. At first they showed no real speech and very little play behaviour. After therapy Louise developed normal speaking
According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, in 2006, Medicare provided health care coverage for 43.2 million Americans. Enrollment is expected to climb to 77 million by 2031, when the baby boomers are fully enrolled 2. In addition to health care Johnson was concerned with education. He hoped to become known as "The Education President.” HeadStart was designed to focus on preparing children from low-income families for school, with the hopes of ending the cycle of poverty through education. In 2006 nearly one million children were enrolled in HeadStart and it is estimated that more than 24 million children had participated in this program 3.
I cannot not imagine what it is like to have a child that is sick, let alone a child that is terminally ill. Unfortunately, every year over a million infants and children suffer from a life-threatening illness. Families are then faced with the decision of what kind of medical treatment they want to obtain for their child. More commonly, families choose hospice care, which can be obtained in a hospital setting or at home. It might be more crucial for the child to receive hospice care at home, so the child may avoid from suffering from separation anxiety.
