The disabilities act was established to help facilitate the disabled and their needs to maintain in society. There are people, who are truly disabled in this world, but they go about their day like any other person, some look at this as a noble act but at times this plays as a disadvantage. Then sometimes I run into people that may exaggerate their condition and take advantage of some of the resources that are not a necessity (like the pregnant or someone with a broken leg). The resources given to the disabled need to truly be used for the disabled and not for the rest of society, but this does not give the disabled the power to abuse these resources or act like they are above the rest of society. Every year companies and states officials spend thousands if not millions to accommodate the disabled. The term disabled qualifies for anyone that is blind, death, unable to walk or have a mental illness. Many of these people go about life like any other person taking on many, if not all, of life’s challenges. My god mother for instances is a disabled veteran who does everything like any other person but when it comes to waiting in lines or paying full prices for items she throws in that she is a disabled veteran to get by. Actions like my God mother and Birnbaum are unethical to me and shouldn’t be tolerated. Many of taxpayers’ dollars go into improving the condition and treatment of the disabled. It’s sad and a form of highway robbery when people who aren’t truly disabled milk the system that has been designed to improve the less fortunate, stipulation should be added to the disabled act to prevent the embezzlement of
