They wake her up early and help her stretch her legs in hope that they will one day be straight/normal. They showed the compassion that her birth mother would never give to her child. Linda later recalls, “I must have been held so much that the sensation became a part of me”(65). Fifty years later when Linda and her mother Nancy finally meet for dinner, they don’t hug or even shake hands. The mother may be the birth mother and be related by blood but she sure doesn’t show any love toward her handicapped daughter that she abandoned.
In this story, Hester is convicted of committing adultery with the Reverend in her town, and is left to raise her new offspring by herself in the outskirts of her town. When Hester married Roger Chillingworth, she told him that she does not love him, but he still marries her because he loves her. The author of this work uses imagery in light of George Chbosky’s quote. Another example, is when Hester decides to stay close to her town where she committed adultery instead of leaving to another town to start over again. She makes this decision to remain close to her secret lover, Reverend Dimmesdale.
Because of that, her tongue was cut out so she can´t speak any more. Katniss feels guilty because she has not tried to help this girl, even if she had the chance to do so. In the movie this relationship is never mentioned. The second difference which I want to point out is the reaction from District 11 to Rue´s death. In the book, Katniss only knows that she receives a gift of District 11 because of her kindness, which is dropped into the arena.

Despite everything that happened in Nigeria, Sarah didn’t end her affair with Lawrence and this caused Andrew to spiral into a depression leading to his demise. Being an illegal refugee fresh out of detention camp, Little Bee fled to Sarah’s house to find a safe haven. Throughout this story, difficult choices were made by Sarah, Andrew, and Lawrence all revolving around Little Bee; some made selfless choices and some made selfish, morally wrong choices.
The New York Times published an article called “Defectors Say Church of Scientology Hides Abuse” in which a former scientologist shares her experience as a member of the Sea Org (the Church’s religious order). Christie Collbran claims she and her husband wanted to leave the Church after witnessing and being subject to physical and mental abuse respectively. They were declared “suppressive” and Christie’s family stopped all communications with her ever since (Goodstein, 17). This is one of many reported cases of the Church of Scientology being the cause of total disconnection between families and friends. Once a member is declared a suppressive person, current members are forced to stop communication with them or they will be considered suppressive as well.

Emily got nowhere near the amount of attention she needed. Maggie, on the other hand, was always with her mother. Maggie’s mother was also older and better suited to be a mother because she was older and more experienced however, Maggie’s father also left the family.
