Descriptive Essay By: Dana Parent There is only one thing better than going for a boat ride on a bright, hot, sticky summer day. That is taking a fast wet and wild ride on our tube behind the boat! By the time we carry the tube down the long path to the dock, the sweat is rolling down our backs. With the sun glistening on the smooth surface of the lake, all we want to do is just leap into the cool water and wait for the boat to pull out. Putt, putt, putt, vroom….! When the loud boat engine finally starts up it is like music to my ears. My dad yells “ready to go,” and my friend and I leap onto the tube and hear the water smack against the hard rubber. Slowly at first then the boat starts to go faster and faster; the engine gets louder and louder. Once we are off, all I can hear is the muffled engine under the surface, the water splashing up beside us and the screams and laughter of my friend and me. My arms strain as we both hang on for our lives, all we can see are blurs of cabins and trees racing by. Our open smiles are filled with the taste of fish water with every splash. Once all of the water is cleared out of our eyes we see a giant wave coming ahead and brace ourselves; we hold even tighter to the handles and start screaming. As the boat does a sharp turn, I tighten my grip and can feel my muscles burn in my arms. I then feel my body sliding to the edge of the tube and I am sure I am a goner! My leg dips off into the cool rushing water making it numb. I manage to pull myself up but I feel the hard water spraying up into my face and I am unable to see what is ahead. Then I feel a large wave underneath us lifting the tube and dropping us with a hard thud back onto the surface of the water. Once the boat starts to slow down our hands loosen grip and we can finally relax. We climb back into the boat feeling exhausted. As we hop on we can feel
