Definition Paper Victoria Cosen OI\361 March 15, 2013 J.D. Thompson Definition Paper In the following assignment I will define the following terms innovation, design, and creativity. The readings will also compare and contrast innovation, design, and creativity and their similarities. I will also describe the importance of the three in meeting organizational objectives. Creativity is defined as the use of the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work (website). It is also defined as the ability to produce something new through imaginative skill, whether a new solution to a problem, a new method or device, or a new artistic object or form (Webster dictionary). In my opinion creativity is thoughts and ideas of a product or services that will produce an innovative item or service that will operate or that so one will use to produce objects, or services. The state legislators voted that preschool children should have acquired many basic skills before starting kindergarten. The idea I imagine would be the easiest way to prepare them for these skills would be to create a list and chart of what they should know this would be my idea example of creativity. The Webster’s definition of innovation reads: the introduction of something new a product or service. My definition of innovation is to actually produce the product or service with implementation that it is a work in progress. I recently built a poster board of facts for my preschool class in which I placed ideas of what basics they should know before starting kindergarten. I pasted pictures of the 8 basic colors, shapes, all twenty-six letters of the alphabet and their names and birthdays. I thought this would be a good example of innovation. I then begin to individual design a chart for each child. I placed each child’s individual name and address on their own poster
