In the book, the Fourth Star by David Cloud and Greg Jaffe (2009), the authors provide biographies of four of the Army’s brightest stars in Generals’ David Petraeus, John Abizaid, George Casey, and Peter Chiarelli. All four men earned their fourth star and led thousands of young Americans in either Afghanistan or Iraq in the early 21st century. All four taught in the Social Sciences department, or SOSH, at the US Military Academy at West Point at least once in their 35-40 years of service respectively.
