Dare To Doubt My paper is about characterization and how Sister Aloysius’s mood, facial expressions, and how she interacted with Father Flynn throughout the movie. If any of those were changed the audience would morally side with father Flynn. The mood of sister Aloysius is very strict, she has a, ‘her way or the highway’ type of motto. You can tell her motto right away in the movie when she rudely interrupts Sister James’ class and makes her way into the classroom and proceeds to pick out the students that are not following the special code she has set forth in the school. She tells the girl to take the barrette out of her hair, and catches a boy listening to a transistor radio as Sister James is teaching the class about FDR’s first inaugural address. “ The Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself” was written on the chalk board. The look on her face suggested she was disgusted with Father Flynn; but did she really know anything, or was her face telling us she did have proof that Father Flynn had an inappropriate relationship with Donald? Sister Aloysius's face towards the end of the movie as she sat on the bench was confused and amiss and you could see that as she was talking to Sister James, she had doubts about Father Flynn. A big factor that played a role in the movie was the way characters interacted with each other. The way in which Sister Aloysius interacted with all the other characters. She was very ubrupt and to-the-point with the students
