Dangers of Cell Phones and Driving

Everywhere you look today most people are either speaking on their cell phone or texting someone. The most dangerous is when they are operating a car. Many accidents, some that cause injury or deaths, happen when people are reading a text or trying to text another person. People do not realize the risk they take when playing with their cell phone and operating a vehicle. They also are putting everyone around them in danger. This causes people to have road rage when other drivers are not paying attention to where they are going. As I drive down the road, I can’t believe how beautiful the leaves are looking. I put on my direction light to turn left into my driveway. I look in my rear view mirror and notice a silver car coming up fast behind me. I push my gas pedal a little harder to try to hurry and turn. I just make it in the driveway and avoid being rear ended. Just as I get in my driveway I hear tires squealing behind me and realized that the silver car that was coming up behind me just noticed me. It was a female and she had her phone in her hand resting on the top of the steering wheel. She just missed hitting me and she still could not set down her phone. I am guessing that she had her eyes either reading a test or her finger working the keypad. Her car started to pick up speed again, as she drove off, without even stopping to say she was sorry. I took a deep breath and stepped out of my vehicle, as my hands tremble, thinking of the possibility that I could have just gotten hurt. Another time I had a close encounter is when I took my niece and nephew to the park to play. It was a nice day with lots of sunshine. The temperature outside was just right. The children played on the swings and climbed on the slides. When they were done playing we decided to walk to the ice cream shop. We were at the cross walk waiting for the light to change so
