Maddineni Critique # 3 Word Count : 722 Dabney Evans is the Executive Director of the Emory University Institute of Human Rights (EUIHS). I attended a seminar that she held for Oxford campus on Monday, November 25, 2013 to provide a presentation about “You have the right to…” at 7:30 PM in Williams Hall. I found it interesting that according to Dabney Evan’s speech that “right to healthcare” is a human right. Previously, I had thought that freedom of speech, press, religion, pursuit of happiness, etc., were the basic human rights. We see that even though healthcare is provided through various laws, the right to travel freely takes a higher precedence. Overall, I have learned that healthcare is a basic human right and is on par with freedom of speech, religion, and pursuit of happiness.
