Cultural Interview Imad (defined as support or pillar in the Arabic language) Yousif, is a legal alien resident afforded the opportunity to live in the United States by means of a H1B visa. He plans to apply for citizenship once he completes his training with a local hospital that is sponsoring him for the duration of his training. Imad is 28 years old and has one sister, Ghada, a 24-year-old pharmacist who lives in Damascus, Syria, with her husband, Gamal, a dentist. His sister works with their father, Emir, who owns a large pharmacy in downtown Damascus. His mother, Jehan, is retired and suffering from kidney disease. She is currently awaiting a transplant. Being a first generation immigrant from Syria, Imad, is of the minority in the Arab population. He is a Christian Arab and has no affiliations with the Muslim teachings or religion. Like most Arabs, religion, family, education and politics, are central to his core values. Most of his views appear to be heavily influenced by religious customs that seem to dominate many of his views. He attends church every Sunday, and is, like most Syrian Christians, of the Orthodox faith. He opposes praying at the mosque and rejects the teachings of Jihad. Christian Arabs, unlike their Muslim counterparts, are also allowed to drink alcoholic beverages.
