Cultural Immersion Project Part 2 Shanelle P Warren Liberty University Abstract In this paper, we will discovery several of real life situation that any therapist could find his or herself involved in. Understand the different ways to handle each situations. Working as a mental Health professional it is very important that we protect our patients. In order to protect them we have to understand what our state policy are regarding our patients confidentiality, privilege, reporting, and duty to warn. Make sure our patients are aware of the police before starting any therapy session. The nurse asked the foster mother what happen, and she believe what the mother told her. She did not think there was anything to report to anyone. Especially since there was a social worker involved in the situation. A few days later, the child was at the emergency room again. This time the child did not make it. They were trying to charge the nurse from the previous visit with criminal charges for not reporting the child abuse to anyone. The fact that the child was unconscious and there was not a report of child abuse reported in her notes or to anyone. They wanted to blame her for this child death. The assume if she would of reported this abuse that the child would still be alive. Each state have different rules when it comes to what a therapist can and cannot do. For example, the first part of the movie was the case about the child that foster mother will abusing the child. The nurse who seen them at the Emergency room was being brought up on charges. She did not report the abuse. At first, it seem like an easy case that she was guilty. Once, you separate the facts and really see things from different views. It can change your views. Once it was noted that a social work was present and did not think this child was abuse. It made it easier to see why the nurse believe the foster mother. The child left the emergency room okay. There was not any reason for her to think that only three days later this same child would be dead. If you present the case that, the child was in the emergency and three days later, he passed away. You could view this as the nurse’s fault. Knowing all the facts first make it so much easier to understand the situation, without
