Operating Environment 2 Business Requirements Background, Opportunity and Customer Needs Coffee Shop Simulator (CSSim) is developed to help with the planning of a coffee shop and to optimize the operations. It can also help to estimate the resources needed, such as number of staff and cashier. Currently, the planning methods for the operations of a coffee shop are inadequate when facing different situation, such as peak hour and non-peak hour operations. CSSim allows planners to simulate different levels of customer traffic, number of staff and customer buying habits in order to optimize its work flow and operation. CSSim can help planner to determine the number of staff and equipment under different situation. The customer needs from CSSim: 1. Simulate the customer arriving at the shop 2. Specify the portion of different customer type 3. Specify the number of staff 4. Specify the simulation run time 5. Specify the initial queue 6.
