Jerri Cook’s article, published in american Countryside Magazine in 2000, “Confession of the World’s Worst Parents,“ explains some ideas from Lenore Skenazy’s book “Free-Range Kids: Giving Our Children the Freedom We Had Without Going Nuts with Worry” (2009). Cook completely supports Skenazy’s propositions, arguing that overprotective parenting is an undesirable and ineffective approach and helps neither parents nor children. I partly agree with the idea that “helicopter parents “are victims of “irrational” fear; however, I think Cook is oversimplifying the issue of overprotectiveness. I think several factors affect this, including the child’s age, how he or she is responsible, and where they live….Should determine parents’ quality and quantity
