Through consistent philosophy, all health care providers will strike to deliver high quality care. The leading process of best practice in nursing is through Evidenced-Based Practice (EBP). EBP is defined as “doing the right things right”, (Gray 1997, cited in Craig & Smyth 2007, p.4). This definition illustrates the importance of ensuring that best practice is being done in the right manner which reflects directly through nursing practice in different aspects of patients’ care (Houser and Oman 2011). Moreover, Sackett et al.

Sectors covered by this Act are , government departments, local assemblies, councils, local authorities, health care trusts, hospitals, doctors surgeries, police, colleges and universities, non-department public bodies, commitees and advisory bodies. It is a guide which is a guide to help providers of Health and social care to comply with Health and social care Act 2008. In outcome 21 it explains how records should be kept securely and can be located promptly when required. It expresses how important accurate record keeping is a must.
Health departments have been encouraging the development of EBP so the most effective health care is being used and so the best benefits come out of it (Xiaoshi, 2008, p.6-12). This encouraging is showing to be effective because there are many cases of using evidence-based practice in the medical field. Health care providers are being assisted in taking on evidence-based practice while having the guidelines for clinical practice. An example of challenging the traditional work routine is when a clinical question about the administering of intramuscular injections
Concept Analysis of Effective Walker & Avant’s methodology (2005) is used to analyze the concept of the word effective; this provides clarity to the meaning of the concept and identifies its unique attributes, particularly in relation to medical treatment. Antecedents and consequences of presumed effective medical treatment are discussed followed by empirical referents, which aid in illuminating the concept of effectiveness. Assumedly, “effective” is an adjective most healthcare professionals and their patients would hope to use in describing the outcome of the treatment or the care provided. The purpose of this concept analysis is to understand that for physicians and nurses to provide truly effective treatment, it must attend to multiple needs of the patient, not just their illness. Not only is it important for healthcare providers to construct and implement a treatment plans, but also to involve patients in medical decision making about their treatment.
For these reasons there’s the need for Clinical decision support system (CDSS) to support the physicians in making right clinical decisions. Defining Clinical decision support system (CDSS) Clinical decision support system (CDSS) provides clinicians, staff, patients or other individuals with knowledge and person-specific information, intelligently filtered or presented at appropriate times, to enhance health and health care. [1] CDSS encompasses a variety of tools to enhance decision-making in the clinical workflow. These tools include computerized alerts and reminders to care providers and patients; clinical guidelines; condition-specific order sets; focused patient data reports and summaries; documentation templates; diagnostic support, and contextually relevant reference information, among other tools. This paper will discuss the need for CDSS in the health sector particularly on clinical tasks.
Critical Appraisal Of Care Of Older People Dementia Nursing Essay Introduction The author of this assignment will critically appraise a qualitative research report in the Nursing Standard titled Care of older people with dementia in an acute hospital setting. (Fiona Cowell, 2009) (appendix 1). He will use the Polit and Beck (2010) and Roe (1998) framework to help him critique this article. The article was chosen mainly on a personal reasons that as a third year student nurse the author has witnessed how healthcare professional act differently towards patients with dementia and how there is a need for education to improve Health Care professionals skills in dealing with dementia patients. Also according to the Alzheimer’s society (2010) there are approximately 750,000 people with dementia in the UK.
The practice of evidence-based medicine means integrating individual clinical expertise with the best available external clinical evidence from systematic research" The whole purpose of EBP is to use available research to inform practice and as a result of good judgement by health care professionals to ensure we do what is best for our patients. The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC, 2008) state that all advice given to the patients is based upon the best available evidence based practiced. OVERALL CRITIQUE The framework use to critique in this article is the
The Nursing and Midwifery Council is the regulatory body for nurses and midwives, ensuring that the skills and knowledge they possess are up to date and that they are safe to practice. One of its primary roles is to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the public, whilst overseeing professional misconduct. In this essay I will identify a core principle from the NMC (2008) and investigate how this may affect professional practice. One core principle of the NMC (2008) states that healthcare professionals must keep clear and accurate records. This core principle also relates to any discussions, assessments, treatments and medicines that are given and the patients records should be completed and updated as soon as an event has occurred.
