The manuscript will also include the key actors in the criminal justice policy process, the steps involved in the criminal justice policy process, and suggestions to improve the criminal justice policy process. Criminal Justice Policy Process Crime control policies, protocols, standards, and guidelines are the efforts of the government to protect society from criminals by reducing crime through initiating policies to control criminal justice issues. The actors of the criminal justice policy process unite to determine what laws and policies can make society a safe place for everyone (Marion & Oliver, 2012). The criminal justice policy process reflects what is best for society as a whole and not what is best for individuals.

Week 1: Aims of the criminal Justice system This week was essentially an introductory topic and provided me with a basic understanding of the aims and operations of the criminal justice system. I learned that there is a number of different steps within the criminal justice system and the involvement of all the parties involved such as police, judge and jury and the defence. According to John Champion the main purpose of the criminal justice system is to process and prosecute individuals who commit crimes against society and to deal out suitable punishments for these individuals. This is a pivotal part in terms of maintain the functioning of society and to ensure that people don’t go around breaking laws wherever and whenever they want.
Crime is defined as an infraction of criminal law. Jary and Jary (2000). In Sociology: A New Approach, Haralambos et al. (1986) crime is further defined as an act which breaks the law and is subject to punishment. Crime and deviance are culturally defined and therefore relative, as a culture evolves so do definitions of both deviance and crime.
Then, I will state how the public services and third sector organisation support the victims and witnesses. Furthermore, I will then analyze the strategies/approaches that I have stated from above and will give examples to each different approach of different public services. Last but not least, I will evaluate local public service initiative. The impact of crime has a high cost on society. (Gray) When a crime has occurred its important to deal with it, to reduce the number of offences committed in society/ community.
Provide an analysis of the dilemmas faced by the criminal justice system in balancing the rights of victims with those of offenders. The continuing dilemma of balancing the rights of victims against those of offenders is vast. There are several considerations that reveal issues faced by the criminal justice system in this balancing act. Victim impact statements are an important document in the criminal justice system as they allow for victims of crime to tell their story within court (Commissioner for Victim’s Rights 2015). Erez, Roeger & Morgan (1994) discuss the importance of victim input inside the justice system.

In contemporary America, teams, a subgroup of work groups, comprise the different departments of the criminal justice organizations. Criminal justice organizations, including law enforcement organizations face an increase in crimes and violent crimes including violent crimes, crimes, terrorist crimes, and drug crimes, along with a variety of other internal and external challenges unique to American Society. Though there are several more ways to sentence a criminal, only three of them will be talked about throughout this paper. The first is deterrence. Deterrence shows people that criminal acts are not okay and should not be committed. Deterrence also helps to prevent crime in two ways.
Describing crime and deviance is varied across different cultures; history; social situations and place. It will look at the bodies that measure crime and look at the reasons why they are not accurate. There are several differences between crime and deviance, deviance is a violation of the social norms whereas crime is a violation of the laws of the land. Society has no power for deviance but the government can punish with crime. Much behaviour that was seen as deviant in the past has today become a criminal offence, as with crime behaviour seen as criminal is now seen as deviant.
Consensus theory means any area dealing with a problem where several objects must be simplified to one. This paper will research thorough back ground of crime including the main themes associated with crime, why crime is committed, the four main perspectives of crime (legalist, political, psychological, sociological), and how society perceives crime. This paper will also research how consensus is formed among society and what factors play a role. Research as to how deviance, social norms and theories all have a vital role in how society form consensus. A clearer understanding of consensus theorists will be examined and the ideologies behind these individuals.
