Cultural Assessment When considering a culture, race and ethnicity are two important items to consider. The racial composition of Jacksonville is 60% White (including Hispanic Whites), 31% Black (including Hispanic Blacks), 4% Asian. 5% other. 93% of the population is Non-Hispanic, and 7% Hispanic when considering culture. The White, Black, Hispanic, and Asian races and ethnicities are different groups in the Jacksonville area that seem very cohesive, yet still have many separations from one another.
Do you feel minority group interests are represented within your community? Most of the people in leadership positions are White and have the same religion. The differences are in the way the treat and understand people of the same or different cultural, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds. I definitely believe that minority group interest is represented sometimes to the detriment of both minorities and non-minorities alike. Sometimes we tend to treat minorities like our children.
The churches, philosophers, and national governments now had a language that could be called their own in each region. When citizens went to the market place the vernacular was now understood by all who had learned. This gave people a national pride and feeling of individualism. At last people could communicate with their neighbors and be assured the neighbor would understand.
This would be considered employee discrimination because the employee will not work along with the students in the metro areas. Metro areas can be changed if more of the people that lived that district had received there high school diploma. This is because they would be receiving higher wages through legitimate work thus increasing the cost of crime to the people that
Malcolm X has influenced the people around him, just like a computer. Computers have a huge impact on the media and the people around the world. Malcolm X has influenced the people around him by preaching the word of freedom and equality for all races. Both computers and Malcolm X have reached people in different ways, but essentially they impact the world equally. Another way computers and Malcolm X are alike is they both help people with problems or solve issues that people are feeling.
The media is a big outlet for many minorities because it strongly represents members like me in my community. If anything happens, the media and news are there to bring all of the issues to the forefront so that the party responsible can be held accountable. The news in my community is very informative because they tell the truth about all the issues, and they provide online resources so that people can find jobs and places to be successful. They make a difference in the community by providing food and shelter to the needy, and assistance to those who are trying to get back on their feet. They do more than the leaders
American Identity America consists of a lot of different people. All of these people are of different cultures, race, and religions. Even though they have many differences they all live and work together. Based on my culturally diverse friends and different other observations I feel that America is a melting pot. I see America can mean something different to everyone.
Caucasians are the dominate race in the United States and this can be proved all throughout history and is even true today. There are three different types of discrimination which are individual discrimination, institutional
Dear Editor: Americans are living through difficult times. Americans are stressed over education, lack of job, and poverty. Should people from South of the border be blamed and criminalized in the court of public opinion for trying to have a better life? Illegal immigrants should be able to cross the border because they are an asset to America. They help keep the economy moving, by filling low-wage jobs, it also provides a better lifestyle for them, and millions of illegal’s rent properties in depressed areas, where renters are hard to find.
Also, students need to drastically lower their expectations when it comes to finding a job, “a lot of students want that perfect needle-in-the-haystack job but with this economy that’s just not possible.” (SF Chronicle). The economy is in very poor shape and to expect a job that will instantly provide them with more than substantial pay is not practical. Young individuals will have to get used to the idea that they have less options coming out of university, and that having a degree does not guarantee them decent-paying
