I think this was the case in my workplace, due to naivety and lack of confidence. My deputy manager had very differing styles of work, so this caused a lot of conflict between ourselves, then amongst the team. She was very loud and blunt, to the point of being slightly aggressive and overbearing. I am much quieter, calmer, and more tolerant. Different personalities is a big factor in workplace conflict.
Most conflicts in the workplace can lead to a lot of negative situations, such as being permanently dismissed from your job, work productivity can decrease, it can also increase absenteeism (which is having numerous absences from your job) and sometimes could even result in violence or serious crimes. Employees can get stressed, frustrated, have extreme anxiety, and possibly commit suicide or even homicide. Most people see conflict as only something to be avoided. Contrary to popular belief, conflict is something that can be quite beneficial if handled in the right way. Conflict is a natural part in any society in which people deal with each other on a regular basis.
Once someone is in the system for long enough, their attitude tends to change from merely wanting success, to actually hoping other people fail. The security of the individual depends solely on how successful they are in the climb. Essentially the ladder morphs into a pyramid where the lower groups ban together to protect themselves from the higher groups, think labor unions and the 99% rallies. The people on top know the power is theirs and don’t want to risk its loss, so they are constantly forced to remind everyone below them just how powerful and great they are. The end result of this system is fear, mistrust, and loneliness.
On the other hand there that middle class of poor that knows nothing about the system or doesn’t have the resources to get a good lawyer they are screwed completely ruin your life and affecting some people around you. Several contemporary concerns impacting criminal justice professionals are, stress, finances, the economy, their family and friends, health and job security. I say stress because so many things can stress a person out this line of work. It can be the hours of the job, the clients, the court cases, etc. Finances can be a major worry especially if your budget is tight and so is your money.
This system caused a large amount of employees to become clustered together on the ranking scale, and showed very little differentiation. It was very hard for the company to establish which employees were their better performers. While ranking may seem to provide an objective means of evaluating (since it can be used to assign numbers to people), the rankings themselves are only as good as the criteria used for ranking. They can be extremely deceptive, making it appear that there is an objective valid evaluation process going on when, in fact, there isn't (Bascal 2015). This ranking system also brought a certain amount of job dissatisfaction to employees.
While there are many qualities and benefits to leading an organization or a group of people, often time leaders fail due to the overwhelming pressures of reaching goals and making sure the complete team is satisfied with the outcomes. This failure can often time be a direct link to stress. While stress is enviable for leadership, it is essential for leaders to effectively manage stress. In the summer of 2006, the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) did a study on leadership and stress. Surprisingly, Eighty-eight percent of leaders reported that work is a primary source of stress in their lives and that having a leadership role increase the level of stress.
According to Tuckman’s stages of group development, most groups go through a stage of storming in which conflict arises and efficient work cannot be done. This stage can be lengthy if resolutions to the group’s conflict cannot be found. “Many groups stall in [the storming stage] because power politics erupts into open rebellion” (Kinicki & Kreitner, 2009, p. 227). The differences among team members can reduce the effectiveness of the team, however if the conflicts are properly dealt with the team can continue on
This company is losing employees due to poor pay plans and new competition coming into the area. This stimulation gives a true work setting situation. The team sees the options and gathers information based on different variations. The group was able to use the extra help and information links provided to gain more knowledge of the company’s current concerns and issues. The main problem with the evaluation tools and techniques when encountering the company issues was hard to determine.
This will cause a lack of consistency in teaching from the management side and discipline of the employee in balancing both clients and management. Every district manager might not have the same goals for each salesman. District managers may have different expectations on how the salesman should perform during a sales call. This could be why each manager had different records of Marsh’s performance written down in the reports. When Marsh started working with Ted Franklin, it made a negative impact on his attitude towards his career.
Tom Green, where it went wrong Timothy Whitham Grand Canyon University: LDR-610 September 18, 2013 Introduction Management of resources including people and product is a slippery slope that many managers navigate on a daily basis; some are more successful than others.
