1 Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire Elizabeth Kelsey Tuller ITCS 101 05-08-2011 2 The first multinational corporation was Rome; there are many lessons to learn from the rise and fall of Rome (Bing, 2006). There were three Punic wars that invaded Rome over years of dreadful rage. Carthage was a Phoenician colony, also known as “Poenus” (Bing, 2006). A corporation named Carthage was a big problem and won a lot of wars in Rome. The Roman Empire had many troubled relations during its time of becoming an empire.
In March 1919 Benito Mussolini an ex-socialist journalist formed the Fascist party. These Fascists of the First Hour had policies often of a nationalist, socialist and anticlerical nature. They had little electoral support. The fascist groups or squadristi were controlled by local bosses called Ras. After 1920 there was the Bienno Rosso or red years of strikes and industrial unrest in the countryside.
Describe the transition from republic to empire in the 1st century B.C.E. During the early 1st century rome fell into a civil war and was placed under military occupation. Marios died and Sulla took power. Sulla killed 10,000 people but did address land problems. Giaus took power and created a centralized imperial power.
The key problem in politics was the lack of loyalty. Citizens used to care so much about Rome’s republic that they would sacrifice their lives for it. As time progressed, citizens slowly lost that sense of patriotism and truly did not care about the empire’s fate. Holding political office used to be considered an honor but then people did not even want to be a part of the government. All of the citizens had lost interest in the government.
But, in A.D. 370, a group of Mongol Nomads began to push through the northern borders, causing Germanic peoples to flee into Roman Lands, then causing an invasion. Although the Huns failed conquering the Roman Empire, the Germanic Invasions continued, and eventually overthrew the Roman Empire. Although the Germanic people were the direct cause of the fall, the Roman Empire indirectly caused many factors leading up to the invasions, causing the fall of the empire to be the effect. The Germans were able to infiltrate the Western Empire because the Western Empire was unable to gather an army to stop them. Emperor Constantine had divided the empire into two halves.
In 496 A.D. King Clovis of the Franks converted to Christianity. He fought a brutal battle and during this their valor got boosted and their enemies fled. King Clovis won this fight and numerous others. When Rome collapsed all of Western Europe entered a decline of its social, political and economic practices. Around 500 to 1000 A.D. Rome separated in lands and politically.
The Germans, for example, killed more than 100,000 Africans in their East African territories while the French closed universities and executed Indochinese intellectuals. However there was also competition in militarism; Britain had introduced the battleship, Dreadnought, resolving to build 8 like it every year. With that, both Germany and Britain struggled over mastery of the seas. Militarism is one of the most important causes because it gave countries reason and confidence to go to war. Then in 730 the Roman Emperor Leo III commanded that all these icons be destroyed. The men entered the churches in the East and removed the icons. As the icons were removed the people rioted. Later in 843 Queen Theodora ruled the city of Constantinople and she proclaimed the restoration of the icons. Also according to the High Middle Ages Chapter, the fourth crusade also added to the schism that existed between the Eastern and Western Churches.
There are so many different aspects of how the renaissance did undergo major changes compared to the middle ages. The three aspects that are about to be presented in this essay is economic, exploration, and art. These are topics that took different directions during that were never taken before in the renaissance. The middle ages were known for the "dark ages" because of its bad economic times and the fall of the Rome. The invasion by barbarians in Rome led Europe into major depression.
This was seen as very bad news for the Catholics. Since the RUC always stuck with its traditional pro-unionist role, the police force was feared and hated by the Catholic people. This of course, angered many Catholics as they felt that they could not rely on such a corrupt service that basically hated them, but despite this, was supposed to be there to protect them. During the 1960’s, Catholic employment tended towards the lower end of the job market and they were employed mainly in unskilled and lower paying jobs such as, factory workers and clothing manufacturers. Of course, the Protestants on the other hand had relatively higher paying jobs for example, engineering and shipbuilding.
