For this piece we were allowed to choose to make what ever we wanted as long as we told our professor about it first and showed her a sketch of it in our sketchpads. I chose to make a vase for my mother. I thought at first it was not going to be hard but I would soon realize later in my journal entries just how challenging making a vase is. I started off by using the techniques I was shown to build up the vase. When
MY LITERATE LIFE HISTORY The very first memories that I recall regarding my literate life history have a very strong connection to my family especially my late mother and my uncle who both always wanted the best for me in terms of education as the only child in the house. Around the age of five years old my uncle used to bring me all sorts of children books and board games that had colorful pictures and interesting, adventurous stories in them that made me fall in love with books of all kinds. From the earliest days of kindergarten my mother used to read for me all the books that were brought home by my uncle from work in the primary school where he worked as a janitor. These books included stories about pirates, princess, nights and witches some of them were just nursery rhymes that my mother sang for me at night, which I still know by heart to this date in connection to my mother. At primary school I was able to read for myself some of the books that were meant for grade ones up to grade four leaners books and also had little assistant from my teachers and mother with all the words I did not know at the time.
Art Comparisons Society today, especially those in the art world, are often wonderstruck by looking at two different pieces of art from the same time period. Most people want to understand why the artist decided to paint a particular picture. The two pieces of art that are to be discussed are “Maternal Caress” by Mary Cassatt and “The Banjo Lesson” by Henery Ossawa Tanner. Both of these artists work came about in the nineteenth century. In the art world people compare the works of art by comparing the style, subject matter, shape, space, color schemes, movement and even the balance.
In the painting “Las Manos de Dr. Moore” the tree of life, science, and his great composition are all well expressed. Diego Rivera was born in December 13, 1886, in Guanajuato, Mexico. He was the first twin born, but two years later his twin brother died. His love for art started at a very young age. Rivera loved drawing so much that he would draw on any surface he could find.
A Defining Moment at a Young Age ENGL 1613 When I was 8 my parents took me on a surprise trip. I was so joyous when we pulled into the parking lot of Frontier City amusement park. Little did I know we weren’t there to ride rides but instead see Three Dog Night in concert. I had so much fun with my dad that night. As it turns out that night and the wonder of going to my first concert was one of the most inspiring moments of my life.
My mother read to me every night until I fell asleep. I can remember having dreams about the fairytales she read to me. My father let me pick a book out of the Scholastic paper I use to get every month at school. It didn’t matter how much the book cost he never said no. Welty said, “Neither of my parents had come from homes that could afford to buy many books, but though it must have been something of a strain on his salary, as the youngest officer in a young insurance company, my father was all the while carefully selecting and ordering away for what he and Mother though we children should grow up with.”(Welty, 391) I remember my father giving me his old Hardy Boys books when I was about eight years old.

SALVADOR DALI | ARTS 105 PROFESSOR : GARY LESSORD | WRITTEN BY: RAUL GONZALEZ | I would have to say, before I took this class, art was never on my mind but thanks goes to Professor Gary Lessord for showing me what the definition of what art really is … Art is everything we see everyday and take for granted … With that being said here’s my 5-page paper …. Salvador Dali was born Salvador Felipe Jacinto y Domenech on the 11th of May, 1904 in Figueres in Catalonia in Spain … His father Salvador Dali I Cusi was a lawyer and a notary … His mother’s name was Felipa Domenech Ferres … She would encourage his artistic talents … Dali had an elder brother who had died 9 months before he was born … It is said that Dali was often told by his parents that he was his own brother, reincarnated … Dali soon came to belive that … Dali also had a younger sister called Ana Maria … Dali used to attend drawing school … In 1916, he visited Cadaques for a vacation with Ramon Pichot and discovered modern painting … the following year ( 1917 ), an exhibition of Dali’s charcoal drawings was arranged by his father in their family home … In 1919, Dali had his first public exhibition in Figueres … In 1921, Dali’s mother died of breast cancer … For Dali, this was the biggest shock of his life … He worshipped his mother as most of us do today if there still living … Dali’s father then remarried with his aunt ( mother’s sister ) … Some sources claim that Dali resented this marriage, while some claim that he did’nt … In 1922 Dali moved to Madrid and stayed at the students’ residence at San Fernando School of Fine Arts. Lean and tall, Dali began to wear his hair long and grew sideburns and wore a coat, stockings and breeches. This drew a lot of attention from people towards him. This was perhaps the beginning of his eccentricities which were
For nearly 50 years Schulz's comic strip, the "Peanuts" collection, has been the most well-known and loved in the world, with as many as 355 million daily readers in 75 countries. After graduation, Schulz’s shyness and insecurity rendered art school out of the question, so instead he took a correspondence course from Art Instruction Inc. In 1942 Schulz was drafted and, heartsick and terrified, left for boot camp only days after his mother had died. But he actually thrived in the Army and came back newly confident. After serving in World War II, Schulz worked as an art instructor and created his first comic strip Li'l Folks, which was published in a local
I began to read this book because of all the recommendations I have received on it. My friends, my sister, and my mother had all loved the book and the author so I decided to give it a try. By choosing this book, it gives others a sense of who I am as a reader, in showing others that I like to relate to the stories I read. In My Sister’s Keeper, I can relate to Anna’s love and hate for her sister. My sister and I don’t get along too well most of the time and occasionally an “I hate you!” comes out of one of our mouths, but when it comes down to it, the love in our hearts, no matter how deep, can always keep us together.
