John Pinckney ENG-123-Q2182 Michael Brien 12/1/2013 AMATEUR ATHLETES FOR PAY – MYTHS AND REALITY The play stunned the nation. The Alabama Crimson Tide, consecutive NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) college football champions, living on the precipice of a football championship dynasty unknown for two decades – three straight national NCAA football championships - allowed a last minute “miracle” touchdown return to arch rival Auburn with no time remaining, thereby ruining their chance for immortality. This ended one of the all-time college football classics, watched by approximately 10 million shocked television viewers who, no doubt, felt lucky enough to witness one of the greatest games in recent history. The Alabama/Auburn
This year playing football for Springfield is not the same as last year in high school because I’m not as close with the people on my college team. Last year we had so many exciting games being the top team in New York. I specifically remember the game--we played St. Anthony’s to open up the season. I remember that game perfectly like it happened yesterday. St. Anthony’s usually beats us, but it’s a close game every single time.

The Birth of Professional Football The 1950 NFL season was the 31st regular season of the National Football League. Prior to the 1950 season, the NFL and the AAFC merged. Now the NFL consisted of 13 teams, and they were divided up into the National and the American conferences. The NFL enjoyed a nice popularity surge when the Baltimore Colts defeated the New York Giants in the NFL Championship game. John Unitas was the standout quarterback for the Colts at the time who led his team to victory on a second drive to seal the win.
But the best of them I would say is the college level or National College Athletics Association (NCAA) league; it's the meat and potatoes of it all. College football is where it started, not high school or the NFL. Even so, some folks may ask, is college football really necessary? Is the physical and possible mental damage really worth it just for some fun? The possible injuries that a College player could be induced with are astronomical every time he steps on the field.
As I was quoted in 1993, shortly after aquiring the rights to televise all NFC games on Fox, leaving CBS, NBC, and ABC to scramble for the leftovers, “We're a network now. Like no other sport will do, the NFL will make us into a real network. In the future there will be 400 or 500 channels on cable, and ratings will be fragmented. But football on Sunday will have the
Perhaps no other jobs than coaching has the absence of African Americans been more noticeable. Over the past two decade there has been little to no improvement in the area. While the National Football League, the National Basketball League, and even College Basketball have all seen dramatic improvement over the past 20 years, college football is still dragging their feet behind. College football is an important sport in our nation, from fans, college and high school athletes, recruiters, and even the president of the United States. This game gives younger athletes something to strive for and it even encourages them to attend college with the prospect of playing college football.
When I first arrived on the football team there were no expectations. It was the teams’ second year varsity and they just recovered from a defeated season (0-10). The year I played we went 4-6, this season I made the varsity team as a freshman. My role on the team was not important up until my junior year, but my sophomore year is what changed me the most. My sophomore year my team went 12-0(undefeated) we won the thing.
“The 2012 team possesses great young talent and will likely rout their competition in London” (Duhaime 3). Even though the 1992 Dream Team had better statistics twenty years ago than the 2012 team today, wouldn’t you take it into consideration that the 2012 could beat the 1992 Dream Team if they are “physically, stronger, quicker, and more explosive”? (Duhaime 3). I believe that there is no way to prove that the 2012 team could beat the 1992 Dream Team. Both teams are extraordinary teams but they
BIG 1 Big Time Football Gregory Woulard ENG 121 Instructor Anayah January 7, 2012 BIG 2 In the world of sports there is a word called “competition”, that goes with it. When you think of that word, you think of passion, parity, and emotion. The worlds of NCAA football and NFL football should fall under the definition of competition. Both levels of football are very similar but also very different at the same time. The spirit of college football endorses, and
