Reporting programs are designed to provide reliable data for law enforcement agencies, governmental officials (legislators), and sociologists to study the patterns, and trends of crime. The information is used as a tool to measure the effectiveness of prevention programs, ample coverage of police officers (strengths and weaknesses in their administration of policing efforts) in communities, legislation for rendering appropriate penalties, and sociologists to review the behaviors associated to specific crimes. II.
Police Roles and Functions University of Phoenix Police agencies have very many functions; the most important of all is of course the protection of the public. The protection of life and property is police priority weather at local, state, or federal level. Other functions include enforcement of laws, public service, and special duties. Police agencies are responsible for more than just arresting individuals for breaking the law; they are used for multiple tasks throughout their community from performing bailiff duties to speaking with troubled youth at local schools about obeying the law and staying out of trouble. Limiting the functions of police agencies prevents police from doing their job and puts these countries citizens in harm’s way.
Ethical Considerations for the Investigator and Prosecutor in Homicide and Rape The investigator and prosecutor play very critical roles, roles that are only fairly fulfilled if all parties are as ethical as possible. Failing to act ethically can lose a case, set a criminal free or could even mean someone innocent going to prison. While ethics in every single type of case are important we are going to examine homicide and rape. Both homicide and rape leave the public hungry for answers. We must be sure that finding those answers are done ethically from the crime scene to trial.
Although the challenge for all communities is to balance the extent of powers required by police against the rights of ordinary citizens. Police brutality is not only physical harm but it’s also psychological harm. We need to analyze how much police brutality really goes on out there.
