Interpretation of Christopher Boone Christopher is like the conventional teenager in a lot of ways, but the distinctions that set him apart make his perspective drastically out of synchronization with the rest of the world. The novel took me into Christopher’s universe, I imagined the debilitating fear of being surrounded by speakers all roaring with deafening noises. I imagined being in a spaceship looming over our planet with only the machines that keep me alive for company to which I felt a strange combination exhilaration and tranquility at once. For a moment I breathed the same breath as Christopher and it was jarring to find myself accepting the perspective of an odd fictional character, with unexpected admiration. Christopher started to foster a certain sense of independence and responsibility for himself as he begun to understand who he is on this journey. He was forced to be daring despite his timid nature because he had set a goal for himself to write a mystery book based on the death of his neighbor’s dog, which eventually unfolds into some disturbing truths. Unlike other adolescents, Christopher’s personal adversities are substantially more disruptive to his social communication skills, hindering his ability to make friends and self-sustainability. As an underdog who achieved and overachieved beyond expectations. As a symbol of possibility, of learning to better ourselves. Those who love him will grow together with him, the story and problems of Christopher, his father, and his mother will continue long after this short episode and as far as you can imagine, but rest assured Christopher already has a plan. “Only sticks and stones can break my bones and I have my Swiss army knife if they hit me.”
