January 8, 2008 Music Project My Critique of a Live Performance The live performance that I have critiqued was entitled “Chris Brown: Young, Gifted & Exclusive”. I’ve viewed this concert Wednesday, November 7 at 7:30 pm (Eastern Time) on BET (channel 329 on DTV). The performer, none other than Chris Brown held this concert as a warm up, or a rehearsal to his fans just to give them a little taste of what they should be expecting on his upcoming holiday tour starting in the beginning of December. The sound is very clear, not muffled or rushed. Quality of the music was on point, there were no faulty, mistakes, and everything was all on time and great! The appeal of the music was extraordinary. The musicians worked well with Chris Brown in the concert by keeping the audience up and anxious. The songs and performance were all appropriate for this occasion/event. The songs performed were all songs from his sophomore album. For an exception of his 1st song which was like a teaser from his 1st album. The ranges of Chris Browns’ songs were actually low for the 18 year old mature teen. The 1st song was actually higher being that it was a song that he made when he was about 16 or 17, so his range was a little higher. Since then he has to be very prepared to hit the notes that he hit as a younger performer. Chris Brown showed a lot of expression in his performances. His interpretations of the songs were phenomenal. Each song that he sung went with the performances. For example, when he sang a slow ballad, he didn’t perform a fast moves! He expressed his passion in the song as if the person he was singing the love song to was right in front of him. The style of music was a bit more original than the usual lyrics by similar artists. Chris Brown definitely proved that he had control and authority over his music. He owned each song that he sang. Even when he would stop
