Self-concept is your perception of ones’ self and of their abilities or view point as an individual. An example of this is when my professor asked the class to write a 2 page paper on their personality. Basically we were asked to describe ourselves in that paper, and we write down all the beliefs we thought of ourselves this is called the "Self-concept". Another example is say per say you are having a problem and you need advice. You call a friend of yours and she tells you from her beliefs how she feels about the situation. At the end of the day you still have to debate with you beliefs and how you feel to make you final decision this is self- concept also. Unconditional positive regard is to be able to forgive and accept a person unconditionally. An example of this is you have a child and they have shown out at school or in public, but you still show your kid that you love him / her. You still show full acceptance of your kid! 2. Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs is very important and has a lot to do with influencing the development of our personality. Each stage is a stage that is one step closer to building our self-confidence. For instate if you’re hungry or thirsty that will be your main priority. Then you’ll worry about your safety and whether you’re out of harm’s way. This out affect your life dramatically. You’ll go through life feeling like peoples always out to get you, so you’ll always feel paranoid. That would affect your trust and if you can’t trust it will be hard to love a person better yet for that person to break down your wall. And having trust issues to me represents insecurity about something that’s gone on in your life. Later down the road that will get in the way of your esteem needs and being able to gain approval.
