1.383 b. -1.372 c. -1.383 d. -2.821 ANSWER: c -see previous Exhibit 9-4 A random sample of 16 students selected from the student body of a large university had an average age of 25 years and a standard deviation of 2 years. We want to determine if the average age of all the students at the university is significantly different from 24. Assume the distribution of the population of ages is normal. 5.
Mental Rotation: How does the angular orientation of an object affect a participant’s reaction time? Abstract We evaluated the effect of replacing abstract shapes with familiar objects on a mental rotation task modelled on Shepard and Metzler’s 1971 experiment. There were 152 non-naive participants drawn from the University of Hull psychology undergraduates, split into 76 pairs. 76 participants completed 101 mental rotation tasks in one hour, telling their partner whether the pair of images they were presented with were the same or different. Their partner timed the response time and input the data into a spreadsheet.
Describe and evaluate research into cross cultural variations in attachment In 1988, Van Ljzendoorn and Kroonenberg used an analysis of the Strange Situation to research cross-cultural patterns of attachment. They used the same procedure as Ainsworth of assessing attachment as it shows how not all infants are securely attached. They therefore found the same three types of attachment: Secure attachment, insecure resistant and insecure avoidant. One of the most significant findings was that there was a 1.5 x more varaiations with cultures then between cultures. Also they found that secure attachment was the normal attachment throughout each country.
The samples were stratified and represented subgroups by gender, age, ethnicity, religious preferences, and educational level (Lin et al., 2004). The participants were randomly assigned either to FT or ADC therapies (Lin et al., 2004). The study initially started with 40 participants and 3 were eliminated due to their pretest scores (Lin et al., 2004). The final sample of the study was small with a completion rate of 35%, which was represented by 7 women and 7 men (Lin et al., 2004). According to Pyrczak (2013), a response rate of less than 50% would make generalizing the results difficult.
Name: ___________________________________ Date: ______________ 1. A study is designed to determine whether grades in a statistics course could be improved by offering review material. The 250 students in an introductory statistics class are also enrolled in one of 20 lab sections. The 20 lab sections are randomly divided into 2 groups of 10 lab sections each. The students in a set of 10 lab sections are given extra review material during the last 15 minutes of each lab session.
Bonus points may be awarded for up to 4 additional structures other than the required structures listed in JUDGING # 2. These extra structures must be correctly placed and labeled on the hand-drawn or student’s original computer-generated diagram, and listed on the materials table. (1 point per additional structure, 4 points maximum) 4. Points will be awarded for accuracy. Is the overall model a realistic and true representation of the human eye?
Since New York had such success they decided to try it out with other departments. Surveys were sent out to a total of 615 agencies to see if they have implemented a compstat program. However there have been some agencies that claim to have implemented elements of compstat before the 1994 introduction into the New York City agency. “Almost 60 percent of departments with 500 or more sworn officers claim to have implemented a Compstat-like program. Forty-four percent of departments with between 300 and 499 sworn officers, and 31 percent of departments with between 200 and 299 sworn, say they have established a Compstat – like program” (Weisburd, et.al.
Abstract The present study explored the relationships between perfectionism and academic procrastination. 200 students (92 males, 108 females ) were selected from universities in the city of Tehran through multistage cluster-random sampling. All subjects were asked to complete the following questionnaires: Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS-F; Frost et al., 1990) and Procrastination Assessment Scale-Students (PASS; Solomon & Rothblum,1984). Three dimensions and total scores of perfectionism (concern over mistakes, parental criticism, and doubts about actions) were found to be positively and significantly correlated with academic procrastination and organization dimension negatively and significantly correlated with it. In other words, individuals with higher scores in perfectionism scale revealed more academic procrastination in comparison with individuals with lower scores.
Outline and evaluate research into STM and LTM. 12 Marks One key study into STM was researched by Peterson and Lloyd to 24 students that went to their university. Whereby an experimenter said a constant syllable to the participant followed by a 3 digit number – and immediately after hearing the syllable the participant had to count backwards in 3’s or 4’s until told to stop. Then the participant was asked to recall the syllable. They found that participants remembered about 90% when there was only a second interval; but this dropped to 2% when an 18 second interval was emplaced.
CHAPTER FOUR 4.0 DATA ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION 4.1 Introduction This chapter gives an overview of how the data collected was analysed and the results generated from them. A total of 90 respondents were included in this survey and each posed with a series of questions to solicit for data to help realize the aims and objectives of this study. SPSS 17 was used in analysing the data which were presented in tables and charts format. Some of the analysis conducted included frequency, descriptive, correlation and independent t-test. 4.2 Demographic Characteristics Analysis of the data showed that, out of the 90 respondents included in this study, 50% of them were male while the female respondents were also 50%.
