Charles Goodyear “Hey! Do you want to go out and see a movie? It’s too bad it’s going to be a real bumpy ride considering the wood wheels we have to use. Since it’s snowing real hard outside it’s also going to be hard to see with the windshield all covered up. Man, I wish there were solutions to all these problems we have on our earth. Well, it’s a good thing Charles Goodyear was around to help us. Charles Goodyear was a hard working man who invented flexible and weather sustaining rubber. I know he isn’t as well known as other inventors and celebrities, but just think about it. If Charles Goodyear hadn’t had such an obsession with rubber and hadn’t accidentally spilled the rubber that he mixed with sulfur, an odorless element, on his…show more content…
He wrote “Life should not be estimated exclusively by the standard of dollars and cents. I am not disposed to complain that I have planted and others have gathered the fruits. A man has cause for regret only when he sows and no one reaps”. The first sentence explains that even though someone may have a billion dollars, it doesn’t mean they have a better life than one that is poor. The second sentence says that he has created one of the greatest inventions ever and different people have used it to make new and approved products. The last sentence translates that he’s proud of his accomplishment and that the world has benefited from it. Hopefully, people have taken these words and realized how lucky they are and are indeed touched by the fact that he said this. All of the things that I said before were ways that Charles Goodyear has touched many lives. He has a great history behind him even with a harsh life. When he died, he was about $200,000 in debt. If that doesn’t tell you how dedicated he was about rubber than I don’t know what will. Even though different people don’t realize that he touches their lives every single day, I just want you to know that someone may not be famous but means a whole lot to history.
