Introduction: In this task I am going to identify the impact to a British Airways business of changes to Government spending at a local and national level. Firstly, I will define government and I also will describe how it works at the two levels- local and national. Later on, I would like to discuss effects on British Airways when government spending increases at the local and national level. Then, I describe effects on my business when government spending decreases at the local and the national level. Finally, I would like to analyse the implications of government policies for British Airways. Government Government is the body in the country that has got a right to make and enforce rules, laws and regulations. Government operate at Local and National level. National Level will be in the whole country, and the local level includes regions or small towns. David Cameron is a prime minister in the UK and the government is led by him. He is responsible for choosing other members of the government. In national government power is shared between Conservatives and Liberal Democrats and they deal with whole country. Local government run and deal with one borough e.g. Waltham Forest. Government spending Government is the biggest spender of money in the economy. Government spending at both local and national level has much influence on UK businesses. Mostly, the government spends money on the products and services which are provided by private companies. In addition, for some businesses government is their major customer. Huge amount of monies goes for public services through agencies. At the national level the spending areas include: • Social Security ( this includes things such as : state pensions, child tax credits and other benefits, jobseekers allowance) • Health ( this includes paying for medicine as well as paying for surgeries and hospital buildings) •
