Cell phones while Driving should be Illegalized Written by: Scenny Fryson Manoe/121211233005 Drivers should not be able to use their cell phones while driving because it is very dangerous for the driver, as well as others who are traveling along the same road. Cell phones are also a major distraction to the driver because it occupies one’s eyes and attention, which should be focused on the road. Everyday people die in car accidents because they use cell phones while driving. According to research cell phones are leading factors that cause accidents. Studies show that a cell phone put drivers at a four time greater risk of a crush. Despite of a danger, people still use cell phones because they want to be always available and keep in touch with other people. Also, they think that hand-free set is safe because they can drive using two hands. Moreover, they use arguments that cell phones are necessary in emergency situations. It has been argued that using cell phones while driving can make drive slower, overtake less often, and reach their destination at a slower pace compared to non-users. Drivers who are not distracted registered average speed that is 2 miles faster than those who use mobile phones while driving (Cooper, 2008). However, by not using a cell phone while driving we are very able to concentrate and focus on driving. Why? Because when we use a cell phone our eyes not fully looking forward but once in a while see our cell phone. That’s the example if we use it for texting. Another case is talking with cell phone in our vehicle. It has been proved that many accidents are caused due to some inattention that is caused by the use of the cell phones. For instance, talking on the cell phone leads to the impairment of driving performance and phone dialing takes the eyes of the drivers from the road and causes results to accidents.
