Texting while driving is an up rising issue in today’s society. The fact that people are too busy texting rather then paying attention to what really matters is critical. By not paying attention to the road can cause deaths or even serious injuries to other people. Once the doors are closed, people forget about their own safety and their responsibilities to others on the roadways. Lack of respect for other drivers, pedestrians, and the law has been responsible for many automobile accidents. This paper will provide several examples of the dangers caused by people inattentiveness while driving. Lack of respect for other drivers contributes to many unsafe behaviors.
Utah psychologists have made a clear warning against cell phone use while driving and stated: “Drivers on cell phones are as bad as drunks” (no name,Drews, Siegel & Strayer, 2006). According to their preliminary study hands-free cell phones are just as distracting as handheld cell phones because the conversation itself distracts drivers from road conditions. (Drews, Siegel & Strayer, 2006). Many people think that the modern technology can help to make cell phones safe and easy in the car. However, they are wrong because the dangers continue after the call ends.
Texting while driving has become a major cause of accidents, especially among young drivers. When texting, you are too focused on your conversation instead of the road. This not only puts the driver of the vehicle is harms way; it creates an unsafe environment for all those in and around the automobile. Is a text message really that important? I agree with Jones that cell phones are dangerous and that we should personally choose to not use one while driving; however, I’d go further than Jones by adding that we need to have laws that prohibit anyone from using cell phones in

For example, it distracts a person while driving a car on a busy road, instead of focusing their attention to what is happening on the road, this person is busy texting, and this person causes a huge accident which ends up in the death of the three people just because he was using his cellphone while driving, in addition when people are on their cellphones while crossing the street and the light turns green on the side adjacent to the side of the street that they are crossing, because that person is so distracted by their electronic device they do not even notice that the light has changed, and they may end up getting hit and killed by a speeding car turning from that adjacent lane. Most importantly, it distracts the people from the reality of the world that they are living in today, in some cases I think it either clouds their mind or disillusions their thought process and/or the way they perceive society and that everything that they see in today’s world are as they seem. The second reason as to how electronic devices are harming society is by creating a problem where there otherwise was none before. One good example of this is by people using there electronic devices to go on Facebook and other social network sites and putting up illegal pictures of money that that particular person just robbed from a local bank.
