I think Elizabeth was a very successful Queen, but on the other hand she did cause disagreement and executed lots of Catholic e.c.t. Elizabeth could be as ruthless and calculating as any King before her. One of the problems Elizabeth faced was religion and I think she managed it well I think this because she made all of the churches a mixture. Elizabeth was a Protestant and her mother was a Protestant so I would thought that she would of made all the churches, Protestant, but she was good queen and managed the religion well. She kept the Monarch as the Governor of the church not the Pope which is Protestant, I believe this is a good idea because the Protestants will still think she is a true Protestant and she will be popular with them.
He also concluded that most effective war was one without foreign intervention. The opponents were to be isolated when warring against Prussia. Certain of Britain’s Splendid Isolation, Bismarck maintained a friendly relation with Russia, signing with her a treaty to ensure Russian neutrality in the upcoming wars in exchange for revising the Black Sea Clause. Bismarck had also ensured Italian neutrality with the promise of Venetia, which was ceded to Austria in the Vienna Settlement. Austrian neutrality in the Franco- Prussian War was made possible after 1866 with the far-sighted leniency of Bismarck was careful in provoking the needed wars.
Stalin's foreign policies contributed an enormous amount to the tensions of the Cold War. His aim, to take advantage of the military situation in post-war Europe to strengthen Russian influence, was perceived to be a threat to the Americans. Stalin was highly effective in his goal to gain territory, with victories in Poland, Romania, and Finland. To the western world, this success looked as if it were the beginning of serious Russian aggressions. The western view of the time saw Stalin as doing one of two things: either continuing the expansionist policies of the tsars, or worse, spreading communism across the world now that his one-state notion had been fulfilled.
“The matter of the liberation of the serfs...I consider to be a vital question for Russia, upon which will depend the development of her strength and power.” (Kaiser and Maker)[1] The notion of emancipating the serfs was not unique to Alexander II. He was able to emancipate the serfs because of the foundation that had been laid out
Kennan says that the Russian people are ruled by a tyrant and these ideas are not their views but the viewpoint the Communist Party. In other words, there can be a peaceful coexistence between Communist and a capitalist country if the country such as United States would consider a foreign policy that stressed coexistence, rather than aggression, once circumstances improved. In his essay Kennan suggested that the United States must contain the Soviet Union in order to prevent Socialism from expanding beyond it current borders. Containment Containment is described as the “basic idea of resisting the expansion of Soviet power by exercising the political, diplomatic, economic, moral, and military power of the US and its allies.” It is a post-war concept of George F. Kennan on how the United
Therefore it is difficult to make a comparison; nevertheless it is apparent that there are more areas of continuity that suggest the Russian people did exchange Romanov Tsars for Red Tsars. In order to accurately compare the two eras one must examine the following themes; ideology, centralisation, use of coercion and role of leader. In terms of ideology there is very clear evidence which shows continuity between the eras, the main area of similarity is the fact that ideology played a fundamental role in both periods. Ideology became the main source of legitimacy to justify the lack of competition to the regimes. Stalin and Alexander III were particularly good at using ideology as a basis of legitimacy; they both rejected all alternatives on the basis that their ideology was superior and the only form of government which wasn’t corrupted which therefore meant that violence was necessary to maintain the pure control.
Hedda was part of the bourgeois society in Norway, during the Victorian era. During this time women were seen as subservient and were expected to get married and have children, two things Hedda did not want as she felt that they would reduce her limited freedoms even further, which would not suit her as she has an strong independent personality. Hedda was brought up in a society where etiquette and how you were perceived by others was of the upmost importance. She also grew up with lots of attention as she was the daughter of general Gabler. Her father was very important to her, and she held a great deal of respect for him.
Alexander II, Alexander III and Nicholas II all had similar ideologies and wanted to uphold the traditional values, “Autocracy, Orthodoxy, Nationality”. Their main aims were to create a strong and modern Russia while keeping a traditional autocratic government, and they tried to do so in their own way with the co-operation of the Orthodox Church, who advocated the tsarist regime. To limit the amount of opposition they received, all three Tsars enforced a number of repressive domestic policies. A common method was censorship. Alexander III was the most successful in keeping to his aims, as he enforced this from the start of his reign to ensure there were no open criticisms of the regime.
Russia was keen to expand their territory and to get a warm water port. Ultimately the war ended in 1918 due to the diplomatic defeat of Germany. In the Triple Entente, which triumphed over the Central Powers, there are two countries that succeeded in achieving their aims, England and France. Although England and France worked cooperatively as an alliance during the World War One, they had different motives in the war. Both England and France had specific aims for entering the World War One.
I would want a girl that is athletic, so that she would work out with me, like taking morning jogs and walks. I would prefer her to be pretty. Also, I would want to do hobbies with her like hiking, biking, basketball, and other things. My perfect mate according to my parents would be much different than mine. They would want me to find a girl who is educated, well mannered, and friendly.
