FI1218 Approaches to Cinema 1 – Film Language and Form Holly Rihan Examine the use of sound and it’s effectiveness Within the film Jurassic Park In this essay, I’ll be exploring the use of sound and it’s effectiveness within the film Jurassic Park (Steven Spielberg, 1993, USA). I’ll be looking at the techniques used to create the sound effects and analysing the effect they have on the film and viewer. I’ll analyse certain scenes in which I think the sound effects are important to the storytelling. I’ll look at how both the diegetic, sound from the world of the film, and non-diegetic sound, sound from outside of the film, enhances the film and how it compliments the story, though when watching most of the sound effects go unnoticed but they can manipulate how we read the images we’re shown. Most people know the soundtracks to films are made separately from the action and so it can be manipulated independently this making it the most flexible of film techniques.

Abe Burrows explains this in his autobiography Honest, Abe. While How to Succeed... was in its early development, producer Cy Feuer attended a trade show and was extremely impressed by an elaborate dance number created by Lambert, prompting Feuer to hire Lambert to choreograph the new musical. According to Burrows, it soon became clear in rehearsals that Lambert's creative abilities were completely used up in that one elaborate dance number. Bob Fosse was brought in to replace him, but Fosse was unwilling to hurt Lambert's career by having him fired. Lambert's trade-show dance number was recycled as the "Treasure Hunt" dance in How to Succeed..., while Fosse agreed to take a "musical staging" credit for choreographing all the other dance numbers.

From The Great Train Robbery (1903)) to Casablanca (1942) , Hollywood film studios made major scientific advancements in film production. In the next thirty-nine years they move from the first silent narrative film to the classical Hollywood style. Nevertheless one aspect of film making still remains the same; all films are based around a plot or narrative idea. Classical Hollywood style shows us how these major movie studios can now bring their films to life with sound, camera angle and what was called “point of view shots”. New forms of lighting (three-point lighting, high-key/low-key lighting and star lighting) and editing made it possible for filmmakers to make feature-length films.
Balanced Scorecard Organizations and upper-management often use a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats, and Trends (SWOTT) analysis model to concentrate on the company’s competitive advantages, their possibilities, evaluate how to improve susceptibilities, and avoid coercion. Organizations depend on SWOTT analysis to remain successful in their industries. For a business to be successful and sustain their performance, the entity is obligated by their external environment to generate strategic objectives and constantly evaluate its vision and mission. Organizations must reflect on their mission and vision frequently to assess each for validity, consistency, and making sure the objectives are components useful to the desired vision. Businesses require a tool to measure the execution of objectives.
