My name is Kahlil Thomas, I am the Account Manager here at Peco Energy and Natural Gas Services located in Philadelphia, Pa. I have been selected to improve the current smart meter systems in our homes. Our team is now excited to introduce our new “Save-O-Meter” pilot program. Our target markets are the homeowners who have the gross income of $25,000 to $40,000 a year. We believe that our product will be extremely beneficial to low income citizens for numerous reasons. Firstly, it will allow our customers to track their spending on electricity and or gas rates easily, it will develop methods and advise ways to reduce usage in the home, and furthermore save the homeowner…show more content…
It will provide accurate real-time consumption information by recording usage information once per hour throughout the day. This information is then transmitted and stored in a digital database for further research and development. Based on the homeowners preferences the daily reports of this information can be provided via email or it will be posted on our website. This information will illustrate how much energy is being used by the hour and allow the consumer to begin to construct a plan on how to cut back on energy usage. The information provided by the “Save-O-Meter” will allow us to set different rates for different times of day. The lowest rates would of course be during the smaller peak consumption hours and the higher rates during the highest instead of one flat rate. Our hypothesis is that this will encourage consumers to utilize energy at off-peak hours, which will in return help smooth out the overall peaks in consumption that strain the power system.
