Case 1: Perdue Farms, Inc. 3. Describe the change in management style at Perdue Farms. The management style at Perdue farms has been changing over time and over three generations. At first, the family owned business was selling eggs for the first 20 years efficiently and effectively. Its first management style was to be out of debt and using small economies. It made services for other grower like rising chicken for them. However, as the market for chicken has emerged, Perdue switched to poultry. For that reason, it followed a vertical integration by operating its own hatchery, building its own grain receiving and its processing plant. Those management methods had led the company to strive for quality and use its own techniques to insure it.it made its employees (associates) in a high degree of priority along with its products that lead the company to be more profitable. The Expansion to other market within the US and outside was one of causes that helped the company sell its product in a large scale. In addition, it invested in marketing campaigns to make the brand known, and invested in genetic research program to have the best chicken breeds. Moreover, the company used innovative diversification of its product as to attract more market share. For instance, as the company get bigger and bigger, and make extensive vertical and horizontal integration by buying its competitors and producers made the company shrink for a period.
