The importance of smart and effective business communication is being felt by more than ever before, according to the journal article written by Garima Barida in December 2010. The article explains how the multicultural world we live in and what effect globalisation has had on the business world, thus making effective communication skills more valuable than ever. This experience proved to be the most exciting and, at the same time, the most intimidating one in my life [Comment 2]. While the opportunity to work with MBA students created the spark that led to my deep interest in the business world and finance specifically [Comment 3], I also realized how much I had to learn. It was for this reason that I decided I needed to acquire a good basis of understanding in finance once I graduated from college [Comment 4]. I reasoned that the best way to truly learn and understand finance was to start as an accountant and get a good grounding in the basics of the income statement and its components [Comment 5]. Attaining an internship , was not an easy part in my University as only 10 to 15 internship programs were offered with a class of nearly 80 students , but with my hard work and perseverance of my goal I was able to achieve an attain an internship with a good project and
Apart from the obvious life skills that experience brings, specific to my area of desired teaching is a good grasp of Sage accounting. Sage is an off the shelf computerised accountancy package which is very popular across many industries and more importantly is an area which is taught within colleges. My teaching placement at Oldham college is with level 2 and level 3 students studying accountancy. my formal qualifications, knowledge of computerised accounts, accountancy in general and experience across a wide range of industry sectors leaves me well placed as a 'trainee' tutor. I am well read, mature, confident and present as such to my learners.
