For example, there are multiple reasons why I disagree with Ambrose Bierce’s quote: “Un-American, adj. Wicked, intolerable, heathenish.” First of all, in this country, all citizens are entitled to their own opinions. Second, just because some don’t agree with other’s opinions doesn’t give them the right to declare them wrong. And also, even someone doing the bare minimum is still doing something to help. In the United States of America, the people are protected by a group of laws called the Constitution.
Latisha Hollis Soc120: Introduction to Ethics & Responsibility Instructor: Vahik Ovanessian August 29, 2012 Lenn Goodman believes that in the story “Some Moral Minima” was wrong for some of the issue he presented in the story. Lenn Goodman believe that everyone women, men and child should have the right to live freely been humanity. Goodman believes that judger shouldn’t be passing unless you know that what you are doing is morally wrong. I agree with Goodman on the issues that he discuss on terrorism, rape, polygamy, genocide, slavery and incest. There is no justification for killing for no reason or taking advantage of a person for sexual reason.
Question 1: Anne Hutchinson was a threat to Puritan society in a combination of ways that other dissenters were not, which is the reason she was banished. The Puritan society in Massachusetts was established not so that people can exercise freedom of religion, but only so the Puritans can freely exercise their religion. These were a very intolerant people of any one else’s religious belief; and, their leaders did everything possible to keep other religions from prospering. Their main belief was that the entire community had to follow God’s laws as interpreted by their leaders and if they did then God would reward them. However, if the entire community did not follow God’s laws then the entire community would be punished.
When it comes to a person’s privacy, unless it was agreed upon by the person being written about, it is against the law and unconstitutional to the person rights for privacy. I believe that a person’s freedom of speech is the most important right for them to have because it makes them a human being. To take that away is unconstitutional and so is not allowing someone to speak freely or have their own
Well as in any issue there are two sides. For the people who support the ban feel it's oppressive to women, basically erasing their identity. Most say it violates France's secularism which is known to be important there. Also come at the issue saying its a security threat because they make it hard for the authorities to identify people at crime scenes or during investigations. It's an issue of security, gender equality and individual rights so they say.
They believe we as human beings are prone to sin. We have a proclivity to do terrible things or to be tempted to so (p.30, 2008). They believe our freedom or success of government is dependent on virtue. They further added that only moral people would remain free. On those premise it is asserted that religion play an important part in nurturing the virtue needed for a free society.
Assignment 2.03 Amendment selected: First Amendment The first amendment was written due to the fact that most of the citizens demanded their basic freedoms. (“Congress will make no law respecting an establishment of the religion, and prohibiting the free exercise of; or abridging the freedom of speech, and of the press; and right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.’’) What is the personal liberty defined in the Amendment? The first amendment is referred to as Freedom of Religion. This amendment guarantees freedom of religion in two types of ways; one is preventing the government from establishing an official church. And the second is free will to worship as they please to their religion.
Pope John Paul II described abortion as a sign of “encroaching culture of death that threatens human dignity and freedom” (Zastrwon & Kirst-Ashman, 2013). Abortion is worse than ordinary murder, principally, because it involves the betrayal of a dependent by a natural guardian (Stith, 2009). An example of religion being a bias in society involves a Catholic University. Marquette University has formally decided to decline an abortion rights group on campus, though they do sanction an anti-abortion group. Catholics for a Free Choice contended that they should be allowed to add another voice, but the school has chosen to stick to religious and moral beliefs and deny the group opportunity.
Drug addicts and alcoholics should not involuntarily be committed to a hospital for assessment and treatment. All individuals have the right to self-determination and their personal autonomy to live their life the way they choose should always be respected. Individuals of age should have the liberty to decide what is best for them without government paternalistic interference. If interference is required because an individual’s actions harm others, legal actions should be taken to punish them lawfully by still respecting their rights. The idea of legal paternalism in ethical reasoning is somewhat of a kind gesture from the Government to try to help individuals from themselves in the assumption that those individuals do not know what is best for them.
But some people with the entrenched mindsets make religion an excuse to prevent driving .It does not say any thing in Qur’an about that . So religion can not be blamed for women’s lack of rights . The Qur’an does order us to do things . One example for that , is wearing a costume for the women to cover her against foreigners and that is called an Abaya . This costume ( Abaya ) has been known from long time in the Islamic world .
