Buckminster Fuller Challenge. Richard Buckminster Fuller was an inventor , system theorist, author, designer and had many more qualities that made him a very innovative man. Buckminster Fuller in invented many things ranging from elements to large buildings. Richard Buckminster Fuller has some of his ideas that are used in relation to the modern day such as doing more with less, low cost energy effective strategies, systems thinking approach and system integration which he termed as ‘synergy’. Buckminster Fuller Institute have a very comprehensive design process which they use as a guideline for their design creations.
I have chosen to compare Schroeder house by Gerrit Retvield from De Stijl to AEG High Voltage Factory by Peter Behrens. One is a huge factory, an assembly plant for transformers and other equipment for high voltage transmission, the other is a small house not only in comparison to the factory, but to other family houses as well, nevertheless both of them have some similar properties. To begin with, The Schroeder House, although the first built example of De Stijl architecture, proved to be the most successful one in terms of uniting all ideals of the stile in a single building. It has a rather simple visible structure and design (at least from the first glance to the house it appears simplistic and cubic in form) but, although this is true, the house is highly complex and a very well thought out piece of architecture. It consists of differently sized horizontal and vertical planes, put together in ingenious way, which represent modern De Stijl artists’ approach to constructing an ideal new world’s architecture.
Early on the office had great success in international competitions and also in research and industrial MARIO CUCINELLA design. In 1994, Elizabeth Francis joined MCA and rose to become a Source: www.google.com partner in 1997. She is currently the vice president. He teaches at the University of Nottingham and other universities across Europe. PHILOSOPHY AND IDEALS Right from the onset of his architectural career, Mario has been interested in designing buildings that have minimal or zero effect on the environment.
Taylor was an engineer who studied the productivity of employees (Spector, 2008). Taylor is the father of scientific management for his theory of organization and supervision of workers (Katzell & Austin, 1992). Taylor worked as a senior executive with Bethlehem Steel and this allowed for Taylor to conduct his quasi experiments to improve the efficiency of workers in actual work conditions (Katzell & Austin, 1992). The research of Taylor improved efficiency and are still considered in organizations. Frank and Lillian Gilbreth also both influenced the field of industrial/organizational psychology.
From the beginning of time, mankind has developed many distinct methods of construction. These architectural methods have advanced from round huts to pyramids to skyscrapers. Over the years, designers from many different cultures have improved ways of constructing buildings in order to create those of the highest quality. One culture, in specific, that is well-known for its excellence in architectural design is that of Ancient Rome. They are most famous for their architecture, based on the new ideas and materials that they established.
Situational analysis CEMEX is one of the world’s largest supplier of building materials (US $15.14 bln sales in 2011). The Mexican company founded in 1906 has long been a local, Mexican player but since 1992 it has stepped on an exponential „road” to become global. A key instance for this has been the appointment of Lorenzo Zambrano to be the CEO and Chairman in 1985. With his in-depth knowledge of the Monterey based company (grandson of founder and went through the ladder till becoming CEO), extensive business management skills (MBA, US universities), and openness to high-tech solutions, computer aided business (CEMEXNet) CEMEX acquired and developed the skills necessary to outperform its rivals in size, quality, and profitability. Success can be rooted to the strategy that CEMEX has been focused on emerging markets where profitability was higher versus developed markets.
Yasser Studied at Fu’ad I University, which is now known as Cairo University, where he graduated in 1956 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. While attending Cairo University, Arafat became the chairman of the Palestine Student Federation. He continued his education within engineering in Germany and then moved to Kuwait landed a job as an engineer ("Yasir Arafat." Biographical Encyclopedia of the Modern Middle East and North Africa. par 1 line 1).
Renzo Piano 1998 Laureate Biography Renzo Piano is a man whose work is reinventing architecture in projects scattered around the world—from a Mixed Use Tower in Sydney, Australia to the mile-long Kansai Air Terminal on a man-made island in Osaka Bay, Japan to the master plan for the reconstruction of Potsdamer Platz in Berlin or the Beyeler Foundation Museum in Basel, Switzerland. Even this skip around the globe does not indicate the full range or enormous output of this prodigious architect. Renzo Piano’s projects include not only buildings that range from homes to apartments, offices to shopping centers, museums, factories, workshops and studios, airline and railway terminals, expositions, theatres and churches; but also bridges, ships, boats, and cars, as well as city planning projects, major renovations and reconstructions, and even television star of a program on architecture. He was born into a family of builders in Genoa, Italy in 1937 His grandfather, his father, four uncles and a . brother were all contractors, and he admits, he should have been one too, but instead chose architecture.

ideas of Sir Norman Foster from museums and banks to airports and bridges, from apartment buildings to the reichstag, in the past years Sir Norman Foster's beautiful and efficient designs have dramatically changed the character of cities and landscapes around the world. a common philosophy connects all of them, starting with social responsiveness and the use of natural resources. some of foster's work has sparked controversy , but he has never ignored a chance to rewrite the rules of architecture, be it by tackling audaciously huge construction projects or by designing wind turbines and partly-solar-powered electric buses.
