The essay “Who’s Cheap” by Adair Lara is an exemplification essay which she gives examples of guys being cheap. I believe that depending on the type of relationship a girl and a guy has will determined who will pay. If a girl and a guy have just met each other or are just friends then they should split the pay check, but if a guy asks a girl out on a date then he should pay. The girl however should offer to pay to show manners but at the end the guy if he’s a real gentleman would pay for both of them. Saying “I’ll pay half” shows that you will definitely pay no question ask while “Let me pay half” is you offering to pay where by your date can say “No, its ok I’ll pay.” From a female perspective I don’t think it matters which one you use because either way you put it you are still showing a form of offering to pay one way or another.

Finally the men didn’t think much of women for doing things that they could. Most men married women for their inheritance, childbirth, appearance, housekeeping and were expected to be married by their families. I think the suffragists campaigns were important but not as important as what happened during WW1. But I believe that the suffragists did help women win the vote by showing they can do it in a calm and peaceful way.

All of these complex human relationships make this whole story seem very authentic. It leaves us with deep thoughts about different cultures and different attitude about social class. One thing that intrigued me so much was the different attitudes on sex or emotion between different classes in India. In the movie, we learn that the wedding planner is a poor and unsophisticated person who is from the low class.
Kristine Linde has had a lot of rough times in her life, and now that her family no longer relies on her, she is happier. Because of this, Nora realizes that her marriage is all pretend, and that she needs to live her own life and be herself. Nora and Kristine Linde chose to marry their husbands for intellectual reasons rather than for love. Mrs. Linde married her husband to provide economic security for her mother and her two brothers. Nora chose to marry her husband at the time when her father was getting into trouble for illegal transactions in his business.
Although, it is understandable that she doesn’t point out his flaws with all the lies and guilt she has stacked up on her marriage. Assuming that this was the point of having Nora’s husband as a character, he showed the crudeness very discreetly and elegantly. He also emphasizes the fact that women don’t have as much credibility and respect outside of the home, especially at jobs. Men were portrayed as the moneymakers while woman were just the mothers. For example, when Nora’s friend from school was married her husband was in complete control of his business.
and this is shown on the essay when she writes this ”If, by chance , I find another person more suitable as a wife than the wife I already have, I want the liberty to replace my present wife with another one” Really, is sad but is the truth, men do think women’s are objects they can’t take and leave when they want and demand things and expect to received without giving. As I read the essay it was stupid to see that they didn’t realize that all the wife’s duties could also be done by men, like cleaning, working, taking care of the kids, and of course pleasing their wife’s when she
