There are many aspects of motivation that would be reduced by workplace bullying such as: * employee moral * employee loyalty * employ effort * employ desire Self-efficacy is the most important thing that will be reduced in workplace bullying and this essentially has the same effect as lowing someone’s self esteem. By lowering someone’s self-efficacy and employees lose confidence in their own abilities and even to succeed at all and some employees leave the job all together. 3. I have actually recently been in this situation recently. I am a lead at my job so I had to deal directly with my supervisor as well as be the middle person between other employees and my supervisor. Initially I attempted to speak to my supervisor in private to express the unit’s concern which only worsened the situation as well as made me a new victim of hers. After many failed attempts to work with my supervisor and her persistent bullying I went to her supervisor; who did not take things seriously and ignored our concerns. From that point on we followed the chain of command until we received help. Upper management tried to work with the supervisor but in the end she was fired. The least effective in my situation was persistently trying to confront the supervisor because she only became more defensive and vindictive each time. But, I would think that “stooping to the bully’s level” would be the least effective. Fortunately we did not allow ourselves to do that and I believe we went about things the right way. 4. I believe that an organization that has ineffective communication channels and no rules, guidelines or regulations in place can open the door for bullying.
