This quote shows that the bullies are more concentrated on bullying their victims rather than their school work. This quote also shows that bullies are not very concentrated in school and will probably fail in school and not get a good career. Another example that shows that students are beginning not to care about school is, “Many of the victims are disengaged in school” (Wolpert 1). This evidence is important because the victims are scared of bullies and are really not concentrating in school like before they began to be bullied. Multiple victims who are hurt from being bullied are starting to fail in school.
But is this right, should parents even, principals just blow bullying off like that? Maybe we've seen a bigger kid shoving a smaller kid around, or a girl with less money shunned because her clothes aren't nice enough or she doesn't live in the right neighborhood. Both situations involve bullying, and it's a serious problem in elementary and middle schools nationwide. Too often, we don't take bullying seriously. Young people who are bullied are more likely to skip school or completely drop out.
This is why I believe that it’s not the schools fault. Additionally, the article conveys “‘if a school employee witnesses a behavior that is problematic and makes a conscious decision not to address it, it becomes schools problem’.” (Diblasio).This may be true; however it is only resolved for that incident but later on, the bully can decide to be more careful and bully the student more outside of school because an adult intervened. Now I am not saying not to intervene, just that it wouldn’t make the bullying stop completely. Studies have shown that most of the times, the bully is the one that needs more help because maybe he is bullying because he was or is being bullied too. It is also hard to detect but in most cases, this is true.
There is usually bullying in schools, but something that not everyone knows is that there is also racism going on in schools everyday. There are students and teachers that are racist and that should not be acceptable. A very popular racist phrase is “go back where you came from” that phrase is disrespectful in so many ways. America is supposed to be the land of opportunities not the land to be bullied because of your race. Kids go to school to learn and be successful, but how can they achieve anything when they are constantly being bashed on.
Learning is best achieved in a quite environment, therefore being quite during a lesson is important. If there are uncontrolled uproars during class, the ability to concentrate is hampered and the material being taught is not grasped well. This puts not only the students causing the disruption at a disadvantage, but the rest of the students who are trying to learn. This can lead to negative tensions between the unoffending students and those at fault. These tensions can even progress and continue after school, thus further stressing the classroom and adding to the overall interference.
It is to be hoped that now, the issue with bullying can be related to the increase of school safety. There has to be something done in account for the students who get hurt from other children who have anger issue and erupt sporadically. Raising eyebrows from various school board officials and parents, the concern to ensure safety in schools has forced teachers and principals to be the band-aid from any harm that may bruise its reputation. As much media as incidents over disputes in school get broadcasted, there is not enough attention on the ways these things are being put to a halt by the city’s government officials. Organizations, social media movements and strikes have elevated because of the concern t protect the futures of tomorrow.
More so, it is being done internally by teachers (Falk, 616). The stakes are so high they manipulate test results by keeping certain students out of the testing environment. It has been reported that kids were purposely held back so that their performance will not bring down the test scores that the more intelligent students submit. I agree with that Lindsay Jillson argues about how standardized testing has jeopardized a student’s future because of the sanctions that are given to them for being less intelligent. I just do not understand why the main focus of our education has to be all about test.
In my personal opinion, it’s their own immaturity and utter lack of respect for the school and themselves. As a class, and as a school, I believe that these delinquents should be brought down with the most self-reflective castigations. I do not believe we should ostracize these miscreants, but instead allow them to realize their own misdeeds and to hopefully become a more self-aware and proactive human
Research Proposal 1) The issue I am addressing is why schools with children from kindergarten through 8th grade and some high schools need to enforce a mandatory school uniform policy to lessen the theft and violence and bullying in schools. My proposal is important and it matters because innocent students are getting, bullied, hurt, and killed because of what they are wearing and if we enforce my claim then the number of these can possibly go down. This matters to the parents, school students, school faculty, school administrators, and our future generation, because it affects all of us in several different ways. 2) The competing side of my argument is not to enforce a mandatory school uniform policy. They believe that enforcing children and youth to wear uniform takes away from their freedom of expressing themselves and their values.
Bullying is a plague that creeps up on schools and spreads through rumors, causing innocent students to suffer. This is serious because, bullying is harmful towards anyone, especially to those in school. It could distract students from their studies and create a low self-esteem that can ruin future careers. Now there are already laws towards bullying such as discrimination, assault, and harassment, but those laws need to be enforced. However they are not, because in most cases of bullying it is usually one person’s word against the others.
